Re: Pella Proline replacement options

+1. If the windows are otherwise NOT leaking at their connection to the home, insert is going to be your best application. Hands down.

Re: Replacement Windows Hiccup

I would trust your husband's instinct on what he is feeling at this immediate juncture as you most likely WILL have to remove the frames and all hardware associated with them in the capacity that you are telling me about the windows.

Probably some better product options out there as well.

Re: Replacement Windows Hiccup

Maureen, To your questions first. 1. Depends on the application but the vast majority are more optimally done from the exterior. 2. It is. Re: Full window replacement question

Let's get some pics first and why not ask the contractor what his steps are as well.

A full window replacement in your case just means that he is pulling the frame vs. a frame jump.

You are in the wrong part of Texas. If you were closer to Houston...you'd get the king of windows in Texas.

Re: which side is the bead on?

$200 is not expensive when you are talking about glass. A sealed IGU requires some relatively specialized equipment. They aren't making these in a garage.

Re: which side is the bead on?

Sliding sash is internally glazed, most likely. Center section can be removed, most likely. Geometric is internally glazed, most likely. Not "un-doable" but you are certainly upping the complexity at this point. I would be very careful and get some glazing sleeves or good gloves if you are...
