Re: LaCrosse Wisconsin area Windows

Trust me when I tell you there are 3rd party companies that offer the very service we are referencing here when you see new companies with 100's of reviews...all appearing similar. As one of the long standing members of this forum, I can promise you it's not a "shill-site" for Okna. If you...

Re: Need cold weather low AI windows in Iowa..

Different materials unless Kolbe is now making vinyl.

The Soft-Lite is probably the best performing window in that line up. If thermal and air performance is what you want, that is your choice.

Who's window is it? They make sash kits that would probably be the appropriate route here.

Re: Brands to consider for Denver Colorado

How tall is the building? The delta between single and double hung is usually nominal at best.

Re: Waterproofing and trim installation question

Easiest way is probably some peal and stick flashing with some 1x4 PVC trim over the flanges. You'll need to rip some of the back of the board out to make room for the flange and tape thickness. But that will get you most of the way there. A drip cap tucked in a kerf in the siding would be an option...

Re: Brands to consider for Denver Colorado

Well...you are talking about a couple of different materials in this case to start with. Do you have an idea of what material you want? What are you replacing, material wise, currently? What are you goals? Efficiency, Longevity, Aesthetics, etc.? Have you researched all of those companies and looked...

Great window. One of the reasons that we suggest that brand along with a few others. Top of the food chain replacement product you put in.

Good feedback. We see that around here where a company is 3 years old and has 500 reviews. All very bought and paid for.

Re: Apex vs Sunrise vs Okna

I don't have access to their corporate memos, but I do know from the local folks here that they have almost universally stopped pitching full tear outs as the default application for wood window replacement. They defer to a pocket style set now and I also know of more than a few homes that had leaka...

Re: Apex vs Sunrise vs Okna

I guess you guys use different terms up in the NE. If we pull the jamb liners on a wood window and find rot, it's usually not so extensive that it can be cut out and replaced, sectional, in preparation for an insert opening. The frame leg isn't structural and if the client hasn't seen water to the i...

Re: Best choice for replacing 25 year old Patriot Single Hung

What are you outside vs. inside opening measurements? So you are going to ditch the drywall returns in lieu of wood returns and casing (and/or stool)?

In terms of products, if you can buy through the supply houses, Soft-Lite and Sunrise (now MI) should be available.

More likely that it's failed Low-e or glass defect if they are not coming off.
