Re: Changes to Starmark 900

Have a look at the ProVia Aeris window. ProVia’s promotional information points to pre-finished interiors but unfinished wood interior is an option.

In terms of performance it a U 0.27. That is good but the window is more a wood window build with wood window air numbers of 0.3 cfm

Re: Simonton - to reinforce or not

Stardog unless this is a coastal application or in an evironment that gets exremely hot I would choose the DP25.

I'm in New Jersey and we always use DP25 with that product unless it's coastal. In 25 years we have never had leakage or structural issues.

Re: Would A Bow Window Seem Odd If...

Having the #2 & #4 panel functional is fine. I have had some customers request it because when the window treatments are retracted they would block the #1 & #5 panels obstructing air flow and blowing in the breeze.

Re: Simonton Reflections 5500 vs American Jewel 3000

I followed the link you provided and contractor #1 is quoting you an Ideal window and they are achieving those performance numbers by putting low-e on the #2 and #4 surfaces. There are condensation issues to consider when you purchase a window with low-e on the #4 surface. Yes American Jewel has clo...

Re: windows available in Seattle WA

Out your way I believe the 7500 series will be the performance equivalent as the 5500, you should be able to get the number shown below on the 7500. 48" (T) X 48" (T) 5500 Reflections White Slider (XO); Tip-to-Tip; IntJF; Intercept; ProSolar Low E; Argon Gas; Double Glazed; Regular Strengt...

Re: Reliabilt vs Simonton windows and costs

The Vantage Point 6100 is the Reflections 5050 and the Vantage Point 6500 is the Reflections 5500. I have not seen the Asure re-branded for Home Depot as of yet.

Re: Patio door choice help please!!

You're contractor probably was not aware that Simonton has a standard door at 6'/0" x 8'/0" but not a 5'/0" x 8'/0". The PGT SGD470 door is a tank of a door, the strongest vinyl door I have ever seen, at the 8ft height I would much rather have the SGT470 over the 9800. The standa...

Re: Hurricane protection from Simonton 9800 with impact glass?

Some of what your installer is telling you is incorrect. The laminate glass the 9800 will come with is not the same as what is in the Storm Breaker. The thickness of the interlayer in the 9800 is .060”, in the Storm Breaker it is .090 and the exterior pane is tempered; for comparison the windshield ...

Re: Hurricane protection from Simonton 9800 with impact glass?

The laminate available in the 9800 is .060 and marketed as a sound and security upgrade. The addition of this glass would certainly provide an increased level of protection during a storm. If you go this route spend a little extra and order the High TL 9800 double hung as in high tilt latch. This is...

The Generations is a 9800 with an integral lift rail as opposed to the applied lift handles found on the 9800.
