Re: Marvin Ultimate AI rating/ Most energy efficient wood window

Unfortunately testing has not been performed and testing would not include the environmental conditions of every area or condition. Consumer reports has made a brief accessment and as professionals with years of experience we have often heard complaints from customers that when the windows were new ...

Re: Marvin Ultimate AI rating/ Most energy efficient wood window

For wood windows the most efficient is from Drewexim. R-7, AL=0, RAL certified. http://www.drewexim.com. The Lincoln clad double hung has an AL of 0.01 but can not come close to even an R-4. The Eagle would be next in line for American products but I am not a fan of there DH sill. Still years behind...

Re: Gorell 5300 vs. Great lakes Seabrook

Having sold and installed both, and both are decent; however, the Soft-lite Imperial LS we have sold the past few years have received better post installation reviews from our customers and it is important to meet the homeowners expectations. Installation is key we have learned. Low expansion foam, ...

Re: Advice in KY

Unfortunately Soft-lite does not list all of their dealers and Gorell uses hard pressure guys here in KY. Rogers is considered junk. Call Soft-lite and ask them if there are any other companies in your area. I believe a Louisville company has installed Soft-lites in Louisville and Lexington but I di...

Re: R-5 Dual Pane window

Yes it is currently available today but you will need to find German technology to accomplish a Uw to a .22 that is then rounded up based on the US R-5 definition. It is obtainable here in the US through channels just as a Uw of .13 is available with triple/argon LowE. Poland has close numbers avail...

Krypton has gotten expensive. Try to find a Uw@0.20 with argon. The cost of your home in 1937 is probably about what the upcharge on the krypton will be.

Re: The dilema: Pella Impervia vs Gorell 5300. And now Jeld-wen?

A white Infinity double hung insert costs what a painted 5300 costs plus or minus $5. The 5100 should be a half to full franklin below the 5300 installed. The Integrity is a boyscout compared to an army of 1 in asthetics. They both have their specific niche to shine. The replacement market is where ...

Re: The dilema: Pella Impervia vs Gorell 5300. And now Jeld-wen?

I noticed you indicated stained trim. The Infinity Everwood option should be checked out. If the local dealer does not perform staining they can usually hook you up with a finisher. The 5300 is a good choice so far but you will loose 3 more inches of daylight width of your glass than with the Infini...

Re: Still looking for Replacement windows- hpw about Hurd?

The new Hurd products are miles above Andersen. Afterall, there head engineer left and has been overseeing the Hurd R&D program for some time now.

Yes, the EPA pulled Penta out of the wood preservative so wood products from 1985 have an inherent flaw as they are more prone to rot.

Re: H window vs Gorell vs Weathershield

Thanks Ted that clarifies alot. I see so many folks, sales folk, that get on here and say this or that and many of us know the obvious and feel just as you do. Gayko is made in Germany.

Have a nice weekend.
