Re: NT Window
I don’t typically comment much on pricing, unless it’s in the extremes. I’d say the NT pricing you have is pushing the boundary on the low side.

"SL and the extruder (Vision) didn't design that extrusion profile to make homeowners lose glass to upset them, they did it for a reason. I've never seen bowed, frowned, smiled sashes on those platforms." - Delaware Mike

Re: Norandex vs Slocomb vs. Keep shopping
The issue of employee installers vs. sub-contracted installers is over-hyped, generally by contractors who need a talking point. The fact is, you can get great installations from either, and you can get hack installations from either. Quality control can be appropriately managed and delivered by any...

Re: NT Executive Windows (Fort Worth) vs Elevate Windows (Grand Prairie)
Stick with NT, it’s a decent mid-grade vinyl window for the DFW area. Elevate is also locally made, but IMO a lower end product.

Re: Guidance on leaking double window
One of the many problems with pocket sills is that if the corner weld cracks (even slightly), it will leak water into the wall, and it is very hard to find. You may be pouring water into the sill and seeing water run out of the weep holes, but hard to tell if the quantity of water exiting is the sam...

Re: Opinions on Windows
1. Inserts are less expensive and less intrusive. If you choose a narrow framed vinyl window, the glass loss will be minimized. 2. Don't like them at all. Too many issues down the road. 3. Two to five years is the norm. Beyond that is a bonus. 4. I prefer casements, though you have to make sure you ...

Windows on Washington is a family owned business that serves your area, and they have earned a stellar reputation for top shelf products installed by skilled craftsmen. I’d highly recommend contacting them for a consultation.

Have you considered getting another quote on NT? Contacting NT and asking for another quality dealer in your area might be helpful.

Re: Brennan Windows
I assume you’re in the DFW area. Sounds like they are offering the NT Traditions window, and if so, that’s a really good price on a good solid window. The only premium window brand that is widely offered in your area is Sunrise, so there aren’t a lot of good alternatives. NT is one of the better opt...

Sunrise does make a very nice casement window. Marvin’s Elevate series is a great choice when wood interiors are desired.

Re: Solace patio door is it the same as sunrise restorations?
Marvin products are great, but they're not top of the line when it comes to efficiency or air/water tightness. Sunrise's patio door would outperform Marvin in these areas.

Re: Vinyl vs Aluminum
A good thermally-broken aluminum window will hold up better than vinyl, long-term. They will also provide you with narrower frames and maximum glass space. The downsides are higher U-Values and cost.

Re: Recommendations for modern style picture windows in Austin, TX?
Andersen’s 100 series is not a low-profile window, but it’s a good product.
Marvin’s Essential is the best of the bunch by a wide margin, if it’s in the budget.
Sunrise has dealers in the Austin area, I believe. You might try contacting them as they make a nice vinyl window.
