Re: Vinyl replacement windows in Cleveland area

I agree with WoW. C is the logical choice with the best window offering.

90 minutes is just the warm up for the sales presentation.

It’s not uncommon for them to be in the house for 2 - 3 hours.

Re: Frame Material for Larger Window in Cold Climate

If HomeSealed serves your area, you would be well advised to get their expertise on your project. They have the best product lineup in that area, and the installation procedures to ensure the products perform to their maximum capability.

Re: NTX Window Replacement Project Elevate Inspire vs Vistamark Supercool

Honestly, I’m not a fan of either. Notice that the Super Cool Panes packages has a VLT of 28%, which means that it will greatly reduce the amount of light coming into your home, and will not be very aesthetically appealing IMO. It’s probably Cardinal’s 340 glass, and while the ability of that glass ...

Re: First home - getting more and more confused

As WoW said, HomeSealed really is by far the best choice for homeowners in the Milwaukee area. They have outstanding products and their customer service is second to none.

Re: Multiple quotes and confused

WoW is one of the very best in the business, so if his company is an option, you won’t find a better combination of product quality and installation performance in the DC area.

Spray foam is far superior to batt insulation in every way. Fiberglass insulation is usually for show and not for performance.

Re: Painted vinyl exterior frame (NT or others) - fading?

If my customers are wanting a two-tone finish, I do recommend lighter colors as they will last longer and any fading won’t be as obvious.

Re: Painted vinyl exterior frame (NT or others) - fading?

It’s not a powder coat, that is reserved for aluminum windows from NT.

The color will fade, since everything fades when exposed to UV over time, but tan will not fade significantly, in my experience. That lighter color will hold up well over the 15 years.

I concur with WoW. Marvin and Kolbe would be two good alternatives.

Re: Replacement window options - Austin, TX

I looked through my files to see if I had anything to show you for comparison. I’ve attached the closest brick I found, with white frames. It’s not a perfect match, but it may be helpful as you consider the options.

Yeah, that’s better than I thought. Anything below .05 is great.

Re: Replacement window options - Austin, TX

TBA windows are a bit more expensive, generally - but not exorbitantly. I prefer them to vinyl, but they will not perform nearly as well on those few days when we get a winter blast.
