Re: Replacement Windows Hiccup

All of our installations are done from the exterior and plantation shutters rarely have to be removed.

Is your exterior cladding brick, siding, stucco, or some combination?

Ha!

The foam insert provides negligible benefit for the uncharge, IMO.

Re: Whole house windows replacement in DFW

Hey Voland, unfortunately we don’t service the DFW market. Of those two options, I prefer NT Windows as a brand. I wouldn’t bother with the foam insert. The fact that the company worked for your MIL, with no negative feedback is a big plus. The only premium grade vinyl window that I know is availabl...

Marvin’s Elevate series (formerly Integrity) would be a great choice.

I believe Sunrise is distributed in Colorado. Soft-lite and Kensington would be two other brands to look for.

Re: Window leaking...

Do you have any photos that you could post up for us to see what’s going on?

If the lift rail is on the bottom of the sash, it could be water moving around the IG unit and that can be remedied (short term) by sealing the exterior perimeter of the IG unit with silicone. Just a guess though.

Re: Install Gone Wrong - Non-paintable Silicone

20 years is a long time. Don't let yourself get worn down, insist that it get done right. It does look like a foam issue to me as well, but perhaps it's the caulk. It needs to be redone again. Don't pay the balance in full until it's right.

Re: Overwhelmed by Choices

While I don’t care for the Andersen single hung for multiple reason, the 100 series casements and fixed units are a fine choice. There are no premium vinyl windows made in Ft. Worth, and the brands that I’m aware of from that area are mid-grade vinyl at best. With out extreme heat and UV, mid-grade ...

Hi David! Unfortunately, you’ve ran into a company with deceptive sales tactics. We look forward to showing you a superior product without the long, high-pressure sales tactics. Thanks for the opportunity.

Having been here a while, one of the regulars who has been of the most assistance to you and countless other homeowners is Windows on Washington. Re: One type of window - sizing not avail in soflite

NT’s Slimline would be a good choice for those. Since they are picture windows, the AL rating will be under .02 across the board generally. Don Young would also make them in their vinyl lines.
