Re: HELP - Need advice for 70+ replacement window project
I agree. There’s not a better company in your area to do business with for integrity, top performing products and long-term customer satisfaction than Windows on Washington.

Re: Deciding between 7 quotes, and a question about manufacturers
HomeSealed has given you a very fair price on a great product and we all know that his installation system and customer service are second to none. They are the obvious choice to me.

Re: Whatever happened to Heat Mirror Windows?
That may be true Rick, but it’s hard to get contractors to offer a product that they will be on the hook for after such catastrophic failure in the past.

Re: Window (in)decision: Harvey Classics vs. Okna 600s vs. Marvin Essentials
I agree with DM on staying away from the double hung version of the Marvin Essentials line as it’s a bit flimsy.
Another vote for Okna 600 series.

Re: AMMA Replacement Window by Mildard
To answer the question on the other thread regarding the application of a spray foam, first make sure you’re using a polyurethane minimal expanding foam (blue can at Lowe’s for instance). The primary objective isn't necessarily filling the entire cavity (front to back), but rather creating a barrier...

I understand. You need to choose the company that you are most comfortable doing business with. I’m sure WoW is thankful for the opportunity to quote your project.

Re: Comparing Window Option
Not for me, it sounds pretty routine for the insert installation style. Low expansion foam is always the way to go for insulating/sealing. However, I’d still recommend using Windows on Washington since I know their installation will be top notch + their service after the sale far exceeds the industr...

Re: Comparing Window Option
I agree with HomeSeal’s assessment of the options you’ve seen. I also second his recommendation to talk to Windows on Washington before making a decision. Installation is a critical component of the process and nobody does it better than them.

Re: Window choices in Atlanta area
Alside is a no go, from any contractor. As to option #2, getting replacement sashes to fit with old frames is very rarely successful, in my experience. Air tightness is a critical component of making new windows energy efficient, and that will be one of the leakiest options possible. Stick with your...

The Window Nerd is your very best option in the Philadelphia area for their combination of integrity, installation detail and product selection. You’ll be surprised at their level of knowledge compared to the companies you met with previously.

Re: Windows on a budget?
From my post # 7: "They will be out of warranty, since the transfer timeframe is limited to 10 years. However, if they are Don Young windows, you could order new IG units (insulated glass) from them and have them changed out.” The original owner gets a lifetime warranty on the entire window, no...

Re: Windows on a budget?
I think they are DY as hey did how onto that lock longer than others, plus the glazing bead is aluminum. Most other manufacturers in this area use vinyl. Jon is a really great guy - you are in good hands.

Re: Windows on a budget?
Can you post any photos of the interior, particularly showing the lock? They will be out of warranty, since the transfer timeframe is limited to 10 years. However, if they are Don Young windows, you could order new IG units (insulated glass) from them and have them changed out. The Window Nerd is pr...

Re: Windows on a budget?
Hello George. Replacing the insulated glass units will be cheaper than replacing the entire window. How long ago did you purchase the house? They look like Don Young thermally-broken aluminum windows, but I thought they had moved away from the Swiggle Seal spacer more than 15 years ago. Perhaps I’m ...
