I'll bite. I'm almost done replacing all our windows with WoodClads. I have one rotten Pozzi window left to replace, a big, west facing, 8' x 7', 6 unit mull jobber that I'm replacing in the spring. This window has been a furniture fading, hot uncomfortable pain in the butt. I wanted more light than...

Re: Reply

If the nail fin is part of the frame it's possible to properly airseal it there, however most replacement windows do not use fins. I never said that fiberglass was a poor insulator, I said when it's compressed it doesn't insulate and if it's not adjacent to an airseal the heat and air will move rig...

As previously posted: Milgard follows and recommends installations according to AAMA. This is from their site. http://www.milgard.com/_doc/products/aama-2410-03.pdf Section 6.4.12 "If gunable foam products are used to insulate on the interior, use only low pressure foam products to avoid disto...

I called Milgard last year and asked them specifically about expanding foam, and particularly asked about the low expansion foam for windows and doors...they told me either will void the warranty. So, on my diy WoodClad install, I used strips of fiberglass batt which worked fine. No lock problems..b...

I asked them last year. They told me foam (of any kind) voids the warranty.

I've cut back tile while its installed on the wall using small diamond encrusted cutting wheels on a dremel. The cutting discs are a few dollars each. You can cut about 24" of tile per wheel before the diamonds are gone and it quits cutting.

Re: What brand of Fiberglass Windows

Shocker, What brand of wood/fiberglass windows were you looking at. Geoff Mine are Milgard Woodclads (fiberglass). I'll let the pro's speak to what's fair for labor on installed prices, but imo, if all they are doing is an install and new exterior trim, I can't see why it would be more than $150 a ...

The Milgard Woodclad casements and picture windows are perfect (I have them so this is not hearsay) The double hungs had the issues I believe. (For sure I question RC's statement that MANY of their windows have issues.) Here's what I paid, just for the windows, (with low-e) no installation. I think ...

I have them, so i just tried it for you. Yes, you can clean them from the inside if you don't have a super fat arm. Any sash wider than 24" and you'll need real long arms.
