Re: quote question

The depth of the window can be different regardless if it is 2x4 or or 2x6. Not sure if they screwed up or not but it sounds like they did not communicate well. You did say they looked at the house 3 times What Homesealed said makes sense . When in doubt go with your gut or reach out and ask for cla...

Re: STC question

As a betting man I would agree since 51% would make the majority but that was not the way the question was answered.

Re: STC question

I would disagree on what type of windows are more airtight. It will depend on the brand that decides the order. For example, Anderson 400 series casement is 0.05, the double hung is 0.03 and the slider is 0.11. Okna has double hungs and casements listed at 0.01. Geeking has casements at 0.03 and sli...

Re: STC question

Size of windows would come into play and other things I don’t understand. These questions would be perhaps Be answered in a physics forum. Ideally it would make sense To get all 3 Close to the same level. Perhaps it would be easier if The real questioned was asked.

Re: Window Suggestion Help - Vinyl vs ? - Have Quotes

I see warranties mostly as a marketing tool and typically has nothing to do with on how long a manufacturer thinks there product will last. I would not take a Hyundai over a Toyota based upon its superior warranty Nor would I take Pella over a Marvin. The best product is typically the one that never...

Often it will cost more to upgrade the lesser window to what comes standard on the better window.

Most windows will be very close in STC ratings when equipped with the same glass package.

Re: Veridis 1800, AKA Okna, AKA "Pricey?"

You really should get some more current bids and one that more comparable. You may want to look at some of Okna’s lower lines since they are quite good and better than the Harvey. I would also look at some other quality brands that get recommended here.

Re: Noisy Freeway - Window Replacement - Bay Area

A STC rating of 10 more is quite significant. I think they are right about going with dissimilar glass but whether or not it will meet your expectations is hard to predict.

Re: Vinyl Replacement Windows in STL

Well keep in mind you did go with a recommended brand that I think us in level of mist if those or slightly below and way better than what most use. The sound reductions and energy reductions would almost mirror what you have with other top brands.

Re: Sound abatement?

The Pro -Via will have the best thermal, air and structural numbers and is the best value of that bunch. Don’t know if they offer offset glass options though.

Re: Why is this so hard?

Most upper end vinyl companies protect there dealers especially with there top offerings. The reality is you need to go to a Softlite dealer to get the same window and Most won’t sell them as material only. Where are you at? Have you tried another Soflite dealer?
