Most windows will be very close in STC ratings when equipped with the same glass package.

Re: Veridis 1800, AKA Okna, AKA "Pricey?"

You really should get some more current bids and one that more comparable. You may want to look at some of Okna’s lower lines since they are quite good and better than the Harvey. I would also look at some other quality brands that get recommended here.

Re: Noisy Freeway - Window Replacement - Bay Area

A STC rating of 10 more is quite significant. I think they are right about going with dissimilar glass but whether or not it will meet your expectations is hard to predict.

Re: Vinyl Replacement Windows in STL

Well keep in mind you did go with a recommended brand that I think us in level of mist if those or slightly below and way better than what most use. The sound reductions and energy reductions would almost mirror what you have with other top brands.

Re: Sound abatement?

The Pro -Via will have the best thermal, air and structural numbers and is the best value of that bunch. Don’t know if they offer offset glass options though.

Re: Why is this so hard?

Most upper end vinyl companies protect there dealers especially with there top offerings. The reality is you need to go to a Softlite dealer to get the same window and Most won’t sell them as material only. Where are you at? Have you tried another Soflite dealer?

Re: Help with Window World install and capping?

In my area Window World has stopped the low pricing ads and are priced a bit higher. They are all independently owned and I have seen good work from them, hope this is the case. Brickmold and window sills are easily repaired for capping and should look consistent when done. Hopefully you got a price...

Re: Help with Window World install and capping?

The capping should slide between the the brickmold and siding on the sides and under the drip cap on top. At the sill the brickmold should be undercut so that aluminum goes under it. The aluminum on the underside of the sill should but tightly to siding and not be caulked. The head and the sill are ...
