Re: Apex vs Sunrise vs Okna

Which method is would be best for you depends on the situation. You may have a situation where a pocket window is not idea . Re: Shims

I would also check the reveals at top and bottom by raising the upper sash slightly above frame and look for straight line between the 2. Do the same by lowering the upper sash. Great time to also check out flashing details.

Re: Window Advice

Given your time frame and your list, I would go with Classic. It is pretty the same window as the Pro without the sash reinforcement and the Super Spacer. Frankly, any of them would work in that time frame and all probably better then what many builders use.

Re: Need expert advice for a non-glass person

Not a fan of the sprays, but they may work for you. Test it out first. This is not an area I really dabble in But have worked with films before but never again. My opinion is to swap the glass out.

Re: Need expert advice for a non-glass person

Silicone works well for glass to glass
Bonding but you may see the spot where where the silicone was compressed . You will need to to tape in place till it bonds . Hot glue would work well also and would set quick.

Re: Need expert advice for a non-glass person

If you are using a film, follow the instructions. typically I precut the pieces and use a soap/water mixture and pull the mixture out with some type of squeegee.
It goes on like window tint in most cases.

The glass warranty is only 10 years, so I’d say you are out of luck.

X2 on Homesealed’s advice. At this point all you can you do is get some more bids. The installation details may help clarify things when going into stucco.

Re: Okna 600 vs Ideal Platinum

The Ideal has a smaller market share but always seems to get great reviews. It has the performance and seems to be a well made window. Going by the performance numbers they seem Very close. Value wise and company longevity the Ideal kills it. The pricing on both is great the Ideal is actually on the...
