Re: Replacement windows near Kansas City

Thanks for the replies everyone. Can someone speak as to why the SoftLite’s are so much better? I thought they were better constructed, but the NFRC numbers are pretty comparable to the Provia Endure. I guess, what am I not seeing here? If you were to look at them side by side, open them, operate t...

Re: Nashville TN- Windows

1957. The installing company will test for lead. And they'll only charge/ do the lead protocol if its positive. I'm not worried about the lead. I want the Starmark. It looks better from the inside. I think the ECO PRO looks better on the outside. But who stares at the outside of your house all day?...

Re: Nashville TN- Windows

The aluminum and window insert would be a method. Of “enclosure” and is considered a permanent form of abatement by HUD.
We’re the windows tested for lead or presumed to be positive?

Re: Very large replacement project

I would get bids that are more direct comparisons.
Vinyl vs vinyl, composite vs composite.
It would be hard to say if they are in the ballpark.
Large windows are expensive, if they need tempered glass more so.

The Soft-Lite Classic is not there bottom line(IMO) and has not needed modern updates to be relevant. In this comparison the ...

It is also listed on other lines for different test sizes.
The PG rating is very low regardless of line.

Re: Should I wrap exterior with metal

Aluminum over wood is the norm , if done right it In excellent solution, if done wrong it can look bad and create water problems. A good pro could handle that situation either way . I think the aluminum work is an art and it really separates the pro’s from hacks’s.

Re: Advice on Windows in Denver

If the installation details are all the same I’d go with Soft-Lite. There upgrades to boost u-value and I think sash e reinforcement will boost the air infiltration number. Not familiar with Analin.

Around here Pella does use subcontractors even though they Pella logo’s on their trucks and trailers. The in house vs sub argument is often brought up as a selling Point going either way depending on what they use. Comparing fiberglass windows to vinyl is very comparable and quite often done .
