Re: Incorrectly framed new window installation
I agree with WOW on the both, I think the 2x6 is minimal but we I ain’t no engineer so why not go bigger . While you’re at it I would want the sill tilted 5degrees for drainage along with some pan flashing . You may want some Additional framing at the spit and back side which could go horizontal or ...

They are not set into the cams
The cams or pins on the sash broke
The balance/coil spring broke.
Got any broken parts in the well?
Any pics?

Re: Galaxy IGCC CBA 89-3
Glass is usually only 20years. See if you have any other stickers in the head if the frame if Double hung or on the sides of the sashes.
Keep in mind if you find anything more promising more than likely you will get a the glass pack only which will have installation charges .

Re: Performance Ratings vs "Features"
Forgot to mention, the Delmar comes with an extruded screen vs roll form which is nice but not deal breaking. To save time , I made all my comments based off the single hung model. The Delmar is also dealer exclusive which means a scrub like me could go and buy the Catalina vs a dealer that is more ...

Re: Performance Ratings vs "Features"
After looking at the numbers and a little reading they appear to be same window. The Delmar is the only one that can have foam but the gains are very little, the extra weatherstripping and differences in sash reinforcement almost add nothing as well. The biggest difference I see that comes standard ...

Re: Performance Ratings vs "Features"
Yes, the fiberglass and foam enhance the thermal numbers.
The LC designation is old and not really used anymore but seem low.
Have you gave them eye test?
It is hard to argue with your reasoning without knowing more.
What are the 2 lines of windows you comparing?

Re: Incorrectly framed new window installation
Might even need a double 2x8. It should have specced out in the plans used to get the permit. The 2nd effort was much improved. But still a hack job.

Re: Performance Ratings vs "Features"
You could look at the DP and air infiltration numbers as well, this could be more telling. I think this sash reinforcement would be a worthwhile, this could increase the DP rating and Eliminate future sagging issues. The solar numbers should be compared. To answer your question more simply, it depen...

Re: Over- and Under-whelmed!
The UltraWelds have a thicker frames , sashes. But is a stout unit. The Sunrise has slimmer lines . In double hungs I’d take the Ultra weld for its stronger frame and sash. If casements I’d go with the Sunrise. Both can be had in double or triple pane if you want to put the pricing on more equal gro...

Re: replacement windows
That price is high unless there is something very unusual going on . Sometimes mulled units get confused as one window for example. The Pro-Via is alright but not top quality and would not warrant that price. Homesealed is top notch in product and installation with a solid history in case any proble...

Re: Window Trim Challenge
It looks like it may be flush finned window. If that’s the case I think it would be best to remove the window if the wood needs replacing.
