Re: Replacement windows for a house built in 1900

4% seems very reasonable to me , but it’s still how you present it. It should not feel like an intervention.

Re: Softlite Imperial Elite vs Joyce Heritage

Not that familiar with Joyce, but my guess is the Soft-Lite is a better unit with better performance numbers.
I would wait, there is no guarantee that Joyce won’t experience delays and Soft-Lites lead times may also improve.

Re: Replacement windows for a house built in 1900

I have to agree , But it I have a problems with Any company playing number games weather it is 5% percent a 179 % if they sign right now. IMO it’s just not right to do that to a person. If us contractors dealt with our subs or suppliers we would just not deal with them. I have always aced any compan...

Re: Provia vs. Seaway

It is getting more confusing on what you want and what you’re asking every time you post. I’d take one subject and clarify before moving on to the next.

I’d consider the Prosolar Shade for you area.
The Supercept spacer is very good as well.
Screen material is a trade off.
Sash reinforcement and double strength glass are great options.

There price is within range , you’re happy with the product and installation, the window is well regarded even though it is Not in the upper tier of performance. I’d say go for it and try to work on the price.

Re: Casement Quotes/Advice

Typically they would be removing the cedar boards on a full frame install. There still could be differences in the install that Is having an effect on price. I don’t think Okna offers a black interior and did know that Soft-Lite now does. The black interior and exterior will have a noticeable impact...

Re: Down to the final Bids - Harvey, Allside, Soft-lite

I’d ask them before they come out. I think the Bainbridge is a great “entry” level window in Double hungs as long as they are to wide. It is way better than box store options or what many builders Use . In casement’s it is pretty much the same as all Soft-Lites options. Most would be lucky to have t...

Re: Down to the final Bids - Harvey, Allside, Soft-lite

Weather or not you need the the cladding you are comparing apples and oranges in install details. Alside fans we are not. Really not familiar with Harvey. Bain ridge is Ok. Obviously you did a little research here and why not get a bid on the windows that get higher recommendations?

Re: Narrowed down to three choices

The triple pane is nice but really comes down to a personnel decision , I don’t push it but merely leave it as an option with an upgraded price. On paper the Soft-Lite is the winner. The install details are key . with more information my opinion may sway.
