Re: Expectation vs. Reality
Reducing sound sometimes needs more of a systematic approach as the window is only part of the assembly.

Re: Sealant to match mortar or windows?
Vulkem 116 in limestone can be a good match match. It is textured and a very good product. It is best to put it on without tooling.

Re: Request for advice please. Damaged windows during install
The others don't look like cracks either.
If it is indeed a crack than the component needs to be replaced.

Re: Replacement Quotes - Recommendations
If all things being equal on the installer and dealer side of things I’d go with Simonton. It May be dated but it is not a bad window . Is the Okna worth $500 more per hole? The answer is no. The 5500 is dated and bulky but a solid window

It would match the window and would not need painting.

“It doesn’t matter what flashing tape you use” is one of the dumbest things I’ve heard in awhile.

Re: Casement Quotes/Advice - *Follow-Up After Install*
The screens look horrible, the clean up should have been done before they left. The cladding is a rookie mistake. How long is that bottom sill, if it is less then 10’6” it should be 1 piece. Appears to be gaps in the caulk. Not a fan of the caulking where the casing meets the sill , I prefer none wi...

Re: Flashing tape?
Not sure what’s the best but I use Pella tape on the sides and top and dupont flexseal on the bottom.
There are many good ones out there, I am a fan of 3m products as well. Tape should not be asphalt based.

Re: Install Gone Wrong - Non-paintable Silicone
Clear silicone is big no-no in my book, Should have used a product similar to a beige quad that matched the window. It appears they got over the face of the frame in a not so graceful manner as well. Don’t let them go over the top with another product because of bonding issues. They may still have t...

Maybe try pricing the Okna 500, still much better other 2. Not much info on the Legacy and there cut-away of the frame looks low end.

Re: Curious on Quoted pricing
It is hard to say what is exactly driving the dealers prices up. I’m looking at about a 35% increase in that time period on windows cost only, other things much more some less. Many things can go into a dealers pricing other than just windows cost. Other options are to ask for better pricing, price ...

Re: Okna Window measurements
It’s all about communication. I for example like my sills tapered. If the framer tilts there framing vs adding a tapered sill if they don’t will reflect how I order my height.

That’s a pretty good price on that window.
If they are capping the exterior a drip cap should be installed or the new capping incorporated into the existing drip cap, but “flashing” would not be needed.
