Re: Frame Material for Larger Window in Cold Climate
You could consider fiberglass. But the cost is higher and not as air tight. What floor are the windows on? Vinyl, painted exterior, foam filled frames and sash, option for triple pane to make sure you do not have condensation. You can have the best windows and still have condensation or more condensa...

"It's just that every bit of advice you hear about home improvement projects is to throw out highest bid and the lowest bid and go somewhere in the middle." I disagree with this thought, always have. Are you looking for the average solution to your project or the best value. I do agree the...

Re: Ideal window Vs. Tri-state window
For a low volume project the pricing seems okay at $5700.
For that price you should find a better product like Okna or Vytex.

Re: OMNI windows
Are they a vinyl frame? Do they have grids? between the glass or glued to both the exterior and interior of the sash? Deglaze the sash ( remove the old glass: remove the sash stops, run a putty knife or deglazing tool against the taped/wet glazed side, remove the glass, clean sash rabbit, tape or we...

Great comments from DE Mike. He has broad hands on knowledge of the type of product you are looking for. He is a Nerd in all the right ways. Along with his experience you have overwhelming comments to validate a Okna purchase.
I too give the same advice.

Re: replacement casement window options?
There are a couple of thoughts about that.
Do you have the money to afford the price increase.
The TP will probably give you a $600 tax credit. That would offset the cost by almost half.

I would suggest looking at some high performnce vinyl: OKna800DX or higher, Vytex Potomac or higher.
In Andersen Windows I suggest Woodwright or higher.

Re: MN Vinyl (Softlite Elements/Imperial, Sunrise)
Fairly standard looking twin casement.
Remove the sash, remove the stops, cut out the mullion, install the new 2 section slider, foam, add shoe, cap and seal exterior.

Re: replacement casement window options?
Yup, it is the three sided issue all home owners face.
Finding excellent product.
Finding excellent installation service.
Finding an excellent company to provide both the above.
A deficit any one of those three will make a bad project.
