I have not seen factual data stating the exact numbers Energy Star will require by next year, but feel a substantial improvement is long overdue. A u of .35 in the Northern zone I can build in my garage and windows in the .32 range are still inadequate for upper Midwest cold winters and have minimal...

ST That site is in German, do you have a link in English? After reading the above post I looked at a couple of Milgards and noticed when they used Intercept the spacer was buried about a half of an inch down but when using Super Spacer it was closer to flush. It does seem the farther down you bury t...

Most cost vs resale dollars provided by real estate people show brand name wood products return substantially higher returns. It also cost more to replace with brand names, so your net dollars don't change much. If your going to replace just a few windows, I would stay with wood, but if your plans a...

I can think of quite a few windows sold in Wisconsin that either don't currently or never had a NFRC label. Oberon is correct, you don't have to have one or Energy Star compliance. The exceptions would be when dealing with some form of loan or project that had the State or Feds involved and than a d...

Milgard actually had a better warranty five years ago which extended a longer period to the second and sucessive owners. Their new warranty is really only a deal if your going to stay in your home which represents a small portion of the market. We advocate fiberglass and when the prices get a little...

The price is good, and remember when ordering through Milgard to tell them your sizes are net or they will subtract some more.

Did Schuco have the Good Housekeeping seal? That might put the seal to a test.

Your numbers do seem to be incorrect some where. I still have their sample from the early 2000's. The window looks like cellular PVC similar to the Kolbe & Kolbe that was around for a while. We seriously looked at them and almost went aboard but found something closer to home that was an equal f...

Edgetech is one of the most user friendly mfrg's I've ever dealt with, if your a dealer. I've requested promotional materials and instead of a large envelope I got boxes of goodies. The only test info I ever requested was the DIN fog test. But a phone call to them will get you any info you may want....

Good info Window4U, no wonder the name Seson-All hasn't come up lately. In light of the recent Schuco issues I'm beginning to wonder in these ecomic times if we shouldn't be putting our eggs in bigger baskets. We deal with some pretty small vendors who have already went out of business and been rest...

I'm a pretty strong proponent of SS. We first used it in 1996, and now get it from four different vendors. If it's offered from a mfrg it's the only spacer we use from them. Recently Milgard started using it and it cost us around $8-$12.00 per window. My experience with spacers I've used in the last...

The double slider may be called a classic. We've ordered double sliders, in fact just got twelve in today and they have the classic style lock but also have Sun Coat max and SS, we did have the option of the new style lock but only in a single venting unit which technically is a Tuscany.

We purchase all of our Milgard products with Super Spacer and Sun-Coat max and feel it's vital for our climate in Wisconsin. The window u is .30 equiped as mentioned. I don't know if your dealer will offer you that. If he does it will run another $400-500. The Sun-Coat max being the most important o...
