Re: Window will not stay up. What is the Brand?

Looks like every wood window out there with a compression jamb.

But either way, you need a sash removal tool or you may be able to do this if it is a Jeld-Wen or similar:

Re: Window Replacement northeast florida

Thanks WoW.

I don't have a link, but I would also assume that they live closer to Live Oak/Jacksonville if those are their options

Re: Window Replacement northeast florida

My personal/professional opinion about your selection: CWS Aria - Good window, good company. Never had an issue that CWS didn't solve and their windows are nice with solid features and durability. This is one of my top sellers. EAS - another FL company, good window, bought by Eastern Metal a few yea...

Re: CGI or PGT Aluminum Impact Windows

CGI is a good but smaller company than PGT. I usually would go with PGT over CGI. PGT offers a nice warranty and they are big enough to cover any issues that might arise. PGT is a nice clean window and door, they have a new line out that you may be interested in called the EnergyVue. As far as glass...

Re: Andersen 400 vs Simonton 5050

Don't think I have ever had anyone experience that with the 5500, but I do know there are windows with better AI numbers too.

Of course if someone wants a 5500, they open up their budget to other window brands and series as well.

Re: Andersen 400 vs Simonton 5050

5500 is a nice window. Not sure I would call it drafty..... But I would upgrade to the highest DP rating available with the unit as for us (me) down south is the most important item. 5500 Good, clean profile. Easy to operate. I use PGT and Custom Window Systems a lot down in Florida, but I am unsure...

Re: Reliabilt vs Simonton windows and costs

I would stay away from the VP6100. The thin frame can be a major issue because there is less wiggle room on the install to screw up. If you are Big Box store bound, the VP6500 is a better. But I would go with WoW on this one. Look around for local installers, call supply companies if you need to for...

Re: PGT windows

Wanted to follow up on this for future searches. If you choose an PGT Aluminum door (Impact), you will need to move to insulated impact glass and LowE SB70. This will give you a SHGC of .25 and U Factor of around .67 I believe. In Zone 1 (South Florida), this would pass code. You won't be able to us...

Re: Andersen 400 vs Simonton 5050

May get some rolling eyes, but let me give an opinion. You want to stay money conscience, I think there are windows out there better than the AW and Simonton 5050. But, if I had to choose, I personally would choose the Simonton 5050, BUT (Again) I would ask my installer about moving to the Amcraft G...

Re: PGT windows

This is interesting. On Topic, clear glass (impact) is very clear and there is fairly no difference between standard glass and impact glass clarity. Tint will help with some heat rejection and glare. LowE will help with heat. Some what off topic: New Florida codes now require new and replacement win...

Re: Is this a good price?

Don't know how this is going, and if you have had the contract signed or not, but I will put my 2cents in for future reference. 770 series is an Aluminum frame series. I will assume that this is a laminated, but not insulated unit? I base this off the price. If so, then you should be between the 11k...

Re: Patio door choice help please!!

PGT 470 is def. a solid door, so is CWS's sliding door. Here is where you need to make sure you are good with their doors: See the frame and door if possible. Depth. These doors stand at a depth of 5+ inches, not including the screen. So if you have a 2x4 built house, you/he will need to account for...

Re: PGT vs ECO

I am currently getting bids for hurricane replacement windows for my townhome. I am getting quotes for PGT and ECO windows. Can anyone help with recommendations - pros and cons between the two? Thank you! Wilton Window Hunter! Eco windows have a large bottom sash if I remember right. Kind of a bulk...
