That arrangement would definitely be unconventional, it's more likely that there is a continuous header over the entire bank of windows and these just happen to be sized to look like they are placed between studs. OSI Quad and Quad Max are pretty much the gold standard for most applications. Solar seal is also decent, and Vulkem is good for some applications.
Some guys like silicone on the exterior, I'm not a fan personally.
