Re: replacement casement window options?
The other company earlier quoted $22,721.90 for triple pane Sunrise Restoration pocket installed casement windows like the latest bid I received. Both installs are similar, flashing tape, OSI caulking and low expanding foam. Am I missing something why there is $4K difference in the price? One compa...

Re: Frame Material for Larger Window in Cold Climate
That window size is still within the capabilities of a vinyl window, however choosing a quality product will be imperative. Same for the color on the exterior, no issue there. If you are looking for an interior color other than white, almond, or a woodgrain finish on the interior, that may be a reas...

Re: Swap out glass in new window
+1. No issue whatsoever swapping glass as/if needed, but the current glass is probably the more efficient option anyway. If you don't hate the aesthetic, maybe they'll offer you a few bucks as WOW alluded to to keep it. Even if the factory messed up the order and will provide the glass at no charge,...

Re: NTX Window Replacement Project Elevate Inspire vs Vistamark Supercool
Gotcha. Randy is the TX based pro here on the board, I'll defer to him on the specifics of those products and the best application for your area. I'm sure he'll chime in at some point. The only other thing I'd say is that it's highly unlikely that $17k is based on product alone. Check to make sure t...

Re: Okna window price quote to low?
How long has this Window Depot in your area been in business? Don't go by the "corporate" timeline, these are generally individually owned franchises. If they are established and reputable in your area (hopefully 10+ years in business), and his pricing was in error ( it IS extraordinarily ...

Re: Pricing by zip code?
Good advice above. There can certainly be a difference from one market to the next, however as stated, it will be due more to the cost of doing business than anything, with labor cost being the biggest factor. A few years ago a good window installer around here was in the mid to high $20's per hour,...

Re: Okna 600 vs. Provia Aspect
It's hard to say for sure about the pricing as there are many factors, however even for a most basic window and install, $7k for 8 high end windows is a pretty good deal at worst. The average pricing for that Okna 600 is probably well north of $1k per unit these days from a reputable dealer. As for ...

Re: replacement casement window options?
There are a couple of thoughts about that. Do you have the money to afford the price increase. The TP will probably give you a $600 tax credit. That would offset the cost by almost half. The n3200a will not qualify for the tax credit. The only two options that would qualify are the s3210a or n3210a...

Re: Sunrise Warranty- any good?
I should rephrase my answer by saying yes, it is wise to purchase windows where the service parts, labor to install them, and shipping are covered. In some cases that will be by the manufacturer. In more cases it will be by the installation company. As long as you do your due diligence in picking a ...

Re: Can a vynal window be as good as a composite window?
A good window is a good window regardless of material. In most cases, the material (vinyl, composite, wood, fiberglass, etc) that is "BEST" for your application will depend on your needs and goals for your new windows.

Re: Sunrise Warranty- any good?
Manufacturers generally do not cover the labor to install service parts. That is something that you may find covered by the company installing the product more frequently. As far as shipping, similar deal there where they'd ship to the closest dealer (preferably the company that did your installatio...

Re: Okna vs Soft-Lite vs ProVia
Hey Mike, we do actually offer a few different window brands including those that you are considering, however we overwhelmingly find that Okna is the best option for most of our customers based on their needs and goals. Definitely not our only option though. Regarding the ratings, I'd say that you ...

Re: Cinderblock replacement window options
I don't think that is a size that you will find on the shelf anywhere, no. Most windows are custom ordered to size these days and depending on the manufacturer, lead times have improved quite a bit from where they were as well. If you are in a pinch for time for some reason you could pick up whateve...
