Re: OKNA Eco Pro 600 with grids

1) As the other pros have stated, the Okna is an EASY choice here. It is worth a substantial premium in this comparison, the fact that the $ is close makes it truly a no-brainer. The Mezzo has been the window of choice for Window World for some time if that offers added perspective. 2) Exterior capp...

Re: OKNA Eco Pro 600 with grids

+1. I believe the sales rep is probably comparing deluxe to non-deluxe. Grids don't change the u factor. I'd also reinforce what the other pro's have said, in that the 600/eco pro is a strong window, and also that the aluminum grids are pretty universal regardless of product. This is not unique to O...

Re: Original window data

+1, should be a Alside/AMI product installed by Window World. I'd try contacting your local WW first and see if they can help. If not, the manufacturer should be able to, it will just be a matter of getting ahold of someone willing to help. All of that said, what does the city code require? In 2007,...

Re: Double hung windows not closing all the way

Are you able to lock the window without using added force? If so, that is probably normal movement, most vinyl windows will have that. If you aren't able to lock it because of this, then I'd agree with WoW, it sounds like the interlock is getting hung up. Typically if you put som pressure inward on ...

Your ignorance becomes more pronounced with each post White Gas. Is a single digit net profit a "honey hole"? High gross - high overhead = modest net. Most of your "points" have already been addressed/debunked. It's clear that you'd prefer the sound of your own voice over hearing...

Re: WINDOWS ARRIVED/THE PROCESS BEGINS

White Gas, There is a distinction between stating that prices are too high, and stating that large drops are distasteful. I can say with certainty that there is not a single professional that takes the time to contribute to this site that would say that a 55% price drop is appropriate. This is not b...

+1. Not likely that the labels are wrong. They should be able to provide some sort of proof/documentation if they maintain the position that they are.

Re: Name of group of windows that fits between studs? No header?

I still don't understand why no one in the industry, like the mobile home industry, has played with the idea of a header-less window unit.. You could group four windows that fit between studs, and then create trim that gives the illusion that its one window. Just a homeowners opinion. What do you f...

Re: Simonton from HD vs Pella from Lowes

Neither. Both products have significant flaws and are not very good thermal or structural performers. MORE IMPORTANTLY, box store installs aren't recommended. In my experience, they pay subcontractors below market rates, resulting in a revolving door of subpar installers. Each of these issues is not...

Re: Install Question for Possible Wood Rot & Carpenter Ants

I'd agree with the other pros. This industry is full of shysters and hacks, so if you had a decent experience last time, I'd go back to that same well unless you are looking for a higher level of performance (and the accompanying price). Regarding the ants, it's hard to say without having eyes on it...

Re: WINDOWS ARRIVED/THE PROCESS BEGINS

White gas, where have I stated that I see no issues with your photos? I was simply interested in the details of what YOU feel is an issue. Thanks for sharing. Some of your comments are valid, others are less flattering as it pertains to your knowledge... which to be fair is fine and not unexpected a...

Re: I have Alside Fairfield 80 series windows that the outside noise is crazy

+1 to WDC's comments. Not a very tight window out of the package unfortunately. I also agree that the NFRC labels are unlikely to be incorrect, there are some pretty strict processes for those. Who told you that they were wrong and why? You can also compare that info to the factory sticker (generall...

Re: Air infiltration, PG and DP rating question.

Im starting to get it, and the only way for me to do that is ask questions before I call or walk into a store. Thanks everyone. What Im gathering is when looking at the NFRC sticker, it would be rare see anything less than <0.3 AL? Not rare, but impossible. It will either show nothing, or <0.3 And ...
