Re: OKNA Eco Pro 600 with grids

Thats a good point windowsdirectcinci. He may be referring to the sghc which is much more inconsequential than the U-Factor. As far as grids, aluminum is standard for every manufacturer that I know of. I do think Okna offers flat grids with black exterior.

Re: Very large replacement project

The fact is that fiberglass is an overhyped window material which lacks in performance. The numbers simply dont lie and thats one of the reasons fiberglass windows never quite took off. Just take a look at the dismal performance numbers on the pella impervia window, they are horrendous in my view. T...

Re: Very large replacement project

I see TSquared’s anti vinyl diatribe was stopped dead in its tracks when he was confronted with the reality that fiberglass windows( marvin infinity) have a lackluster structural DP rating when compared to a high quality vinyl window. I would also point out that fiberglass windows also have much hig...

Re: Okna for sound abatement in South Jersey

Okna's sound reduction glass on the 600 series has a better rating than their laminated glass option and its less expensive. We go from bergen county to union county and everything in between. There is a Philly guy somewhere on the board.

Re: Window Leaking Options

Curious to see what renewal by andersen would quote a job like that. Wonder if they would want all hunters in the household to be present during their 3 hour presentation while they use a heat lamp on their new “ wilderness glass”.

Re: First Time Replacing Windows in House - Wood to Vinyl?

That one contractor probably would of been 0-5 on his prognostications had he not stopped talking.
Agree with the guy above regarding well engineered vinyl and the Soft Lite window.
What was the cost for the soft lite option?

Re: Replacement Window Options

Prices for windows and doors have gone up dramatically since 2021 as well as the cost of labor. Workers( installers) also have bills to pay and as their costs of living went up they demanded wage increases. Throw in the scarcity of those willing to work now a days and guess what? Wages increase even...

The fact that Lowes offered Dakota leads me to believe that Dakota decided to enter the screen window for submarine business.

Re: Feedback - Softlite vs Okna quotes

The majority of window installations are replacement and if done correctly, there is no need to worry about any leaks. Conversely, If a new construction install is not done correctly, air leakage and water will be a problem. That being said, I defer back to homesealed, unless there is a specific rea...

Re: Feedback - Softlite vs Okna quotes

You were quoted for grids between the glass on both top and bottom sash?
Both quotes include the grids?
New construction adds a substantial amount over replacement.

Re: Feedback - Softlite vs Okna quotes

The Okna is more because they quoted you new construction. Had Zen quoted you for new construction, I am quite certain the soft lite would of been more.
Were there any grids with either quote?

Re: OKNA 800 ENVIRO STAR VS SUNRISE RESTORATION

Both are nice but the Okna 800 is stronger and will get the nod in performance/ efficiency.
Have you contacted HomeSealed? Great company and the owner is a great guy.
