Argon at altitude
So is it fair to say that an argon-filled window, installed at 6000', will have an effective NFRC rating somewhere between the argon-rated number and the air-rated number? Is it a bad idea to have argon at altitude? Seems to me whether it's argon or air, the cap tube will allow some of the gas out, ...

Simonton Impressions 7500
Hello, I'm currently trying to research the Simonton 7500 window. I'm having a hard time finding information on this window -- perhaps it is only sold by certain dealers? Does anyone know how this window compares with the 9800 or the Home-Depot sold 6500? The Simonton web-page and the brochure I got...

I did not realize that some single-sliders have both removable sashes (I know Milgard doesn't, because I asked my dealer, so I assumed it was that way for all single-sliders). I am trying to find out if there's a ...

Double-sliders
Hello, I am still trying to figure out what windows to buy. One of my criteria is that the window has to be available in a double-slider. This is because I have a family room in my (garden-level) basement, and I cannot fit my couch down the stairs. I was able to get it through the window by carefull...

Alside Excalibur vs. Amerimax 7000
Hello, I'm trying to choose between Alside Excalibur and Amerimax 7000 to replace my old wood windows. I'm having a hard time deciding which window is "better" because both contractors say their window is better, of course. The bid on the Excalibur is about $12,000 and the Amerimax is abou...
