500 and the 800 are close siblings on either side if they are easier to find

Re: Deciding between quoted window installs
Don't know about the install company, but Sunrise is pretty good. Casements are better than their dh's though. Champion and UWD are a couple national chains, or shoudl I say one? It's the same corporation with two different "brands". Did you contact them both on your own, or did one myster...

Re: Comparing Window Option
option 1 seems low and the install description is vague. Still can't really tell what's going on there exactly.
option 2 is no good
option 3 may be fine depending on who is offering.
I'd take the advice of the other guys here and give Windows in Washington a call. Can't beat their reputation.

Re: Polaris vs Joyce vs VWD
I'd lean Polaris, Joyce is not bad though.
For VWD, a little bit of penicillin will clear that right up.

Re: Help! with first time window id for a matching sash kit
I agree, a pocket replacement will be easier and may even cost less than a sash kit if you throw a cheap vinyl unit in there
If it needs to match, than a sash kit. You measure it pretty much the same way as a pocket. Brand of the original doesn't matter, and they are probably out of business.

Re: Simonton vs Andersen
Sounds like you found a guy that buys whatever windows he can get at Home Depot. Not a good sign. Not very good window choices, the Andersen is okay I suppose if you want a wood interior window that will need to be replaced in 15 years or so.

Re: Okna 700 Casement Windows Issues
No window can prevent condensation. It's always going to be one of the coldest spots in your home, more specifically the bottom edge of the glass. What's pictured looks completely normal for a 15 degree day even with triple pane glass. The moisture in your home is just a tick high for the glass temp...

Re: Name of group of windows that fits between studs? No header?
You are too kind Mr Window Nerd. While the Brown gas statement that all exterior walls bear some weight and simple folks call it gravity is not incorrect, the condescending insinuation that they should all be treated the same is downright moronic. This cat is sounding more like a shady window salesm...

Re: Name of group of windows that fits between studs? No header?
This addition has engineered trusses, so its not load bearing. I was wondering about windows that were designed to fit between studs, but made to look like one unit for my other property and I'm disappointed that they don't exist. There would be nothing special about the window other than the sizin...

Re: Pella Proline replacement options
Miratec is awful IMO. Seen many failures.
LP is good stuff as is the azek, versatex, etc. Never had an issue. Only time I've seen an issue is due to bad or incorrect installation of it.
Same for the installs, The Nerd is on point there. This is done all day everyday by competent guys.

Re: Window Quotes in Tennessee
I have looked at other online reviews and do not see many negative reviews of Mezzo. Where have you been looking??? If anything, that window isn't brought up much these days as there are better choices that the roofers and pickup truck contractors are offering such as Provia. Insignia is an...

two great windows to choose from here. I also don't care for that interior low e, but maybe not awful for your location.
