Re: replacement casement window options?
Its a nice window. Finding the lowest price doesn't typically end the best, but Restorations windows are usually reserved for solid companies, so you should hopefully be ok. The real question is when are you going to make a decision? You mentioned not being around for long enough to see the end of t...

Can't argue with these guys, move on from what you've seen so far, and Wisdows on washington is the man in your area.

Re: replacement casement window options?
Looks to me like you have some nice choices on the table, heading to a homeshow will just leave you more confused or subject to be conned into a bad choice. Just my two cents

Re: Okna 600 vs. Provia Aspect
Open and shut for the Okna on this one. Not only is the product better, but DE Mike raises some great points about the guys selling the provia. Its the hottest product for the "chuck in a truck" crowd in my area too, really makes it a crapshoot. Many of the better products limit availabilt...

Re: First home - getting more and more confused
Keep looking. Zen is a gimmick that won't be around much longer imo, and you are right to question that price. Cheap price typcially = cheap product + cheap labor, neither of which meet your goal of a good experience with this purchase, especiually if staying in your home for a while. The other guys...

Re: Okna vs Soft-Lite vs ProVia
Welp, the first link is a fake info site made by a lead generation service. Some dated info, and some "click bait" to entice you to give them your info. I assume that you haven't done that otherwise you'd be complaining about getting 20 phone calls a day from the handful of companies that ...

Re: Painted vinyl exterior frame (NT or others) - fading?
good advice. The paint will fade, but so would vinyl, painted fiberglass or metal, etc. Its a fact of life. Lighter colors are better.

Re: Okna vs Soft-Lite vs ProVia
Have you already been quoted those prices? The are a bit lighter than average. Its impossible to research pricing accurately because there are so many variables. I'd definitely source product and install from one company unless you want to deal with the installer and window supplier pointing fingers...

Both good methods above. Build a rot-proof buck or just go right into the block.

#1 Okna
#2 SL Elite
That's it.
No love at all for Provia from me. Tried them out and they should stick to doors imo.

Re: Vinyl failing on new windows
Light googling should have also returned that titanium dioxide is used in the blend of the vinyl, it is not a "coating", except when used in low-e glass coatings. Again, the fact that windows are discolored doesn't speak to the how or why on a factual basis, nor does it speak to any actual...

Re: Vinyl failing on new windows
I'm going through he builder because that is what the builder requires for all claims in the first year of ownership as part of their warranty. A logical first step. The known defect is easily proven because of the date that my neighbor was told about their windows and told they would be painted is...

Re: Vinyl failing on new windows
The builder has a warranty. I know I posted the window company warranty but the builder is still on the hook for the first year. For what? Did the builder make the windows? No. The manufacturer did. I'm not a fan of worthless builder warranties in general, but you are barking up the wrong tree. The...
