Vytex make a very good window, both the fortis and Potomac. We also like their patio door.

Re: Deciding which contractor/windows to go with

Stay away from the family friend of the in laws. Does he have an actual business location other than his garage? The fact that he uses andersen leads me to think he just buys windows directly from a hardware store or supply house. A legitimate window company usually buys direct from the manufacturer...

Re: Pella Proline replacement options

As the windownerd said— “It is easy enough to install inserts into clad frames. The salesman and installers just need to know how to measure and install. Our installers like to saw off the outside aluminum stop. The thing I hate about the proline frames is you have to sit the insert on top the sill ...

Re: ProVia vs Ideal vs Okna 400/500/800 in LI

Are you getting any grids ? The Ideal " platinum" is a pretty solid offering as its similar to their Ideal "majestic series" window. That is very aggressive pricing for that window. As far as the Okna window is concerned, you would be much better served by looking at their 500 se...

Re: Window Quotes in Tennessee

Fyi gentlemen, the Aeris uses a pocket sill and it's basically a vinyl window with a real wood snap in piece that covers the interior. I actually prefer the endure over the aeris although the Okna 600 by window works wins out.

Re: Okna 800 vs SoftLite Elements vs GreatLakes ComfortSmart

We have zero issues with sash drift from Elements and we have installed thousands. If we did have issues, we wouldn't offer it. Okna is a very good window as well.

Re: Simonton 6500 vs Reliabilt 3900

Simonton is a very bulky product and not nearly as efficient-air tight as some of higher end vinyl windows. Most window centric companies dont particularly care for Simonton. Reliablt is definitely a step down and is viewed as a product that roofers and weekend warriors usually choose. Remember, you...
