Re: Quadratherm??
I have about 20,000 windows with cardinal i89 out there and no more issues than any without it.(Cincinnati market) so it definitely has some cold days but not like Wisconsin or other very northern parts. The i89 is also much more durable than a hard coat low-e on other manufacturers in the testing I...

Re: Sound abatement?
When you have the sunrise dealer out ask for NRG glass this should be available from Marvin also, not sure about the others. It's made specifically for noise reduction. Ask for STC ratings the higher the number the more sound dampening the window will have so you can compare between brands.

Re: Solace patio door is it the same as sunrise restorations?
The sashes are welded. The frames are knock down(meaning screwed together in the field). The frames use rubber gaskets at the corners where the screws are to ensure a water and air seal. I'm not sure about the soft lite door but the Sunrise door has an air leakage rate of .02cfm (you can't really ge...

Re: Spray Foam Insulation Air Infiltration
Looking above the window as in is there a window above that one? In my experience water intrusion near the top of the window isn't usually an issue with that window in particular but one above it, or possibly a gutter etc. You normally wouldn't have access to that cavity to foam insulate although it...

Re: Why is this so hard?
Your better off going to the Soft-Lite "dealer" If your new contractor isn't a window "dealer" what happens should you ever need warranty service. He will not be able to hep you and you'll be having a hard time at that point getting anything done. It's better to deal with a dealer so they can take c...

Re: Window world 4000 vs feldco Sophia vs Sunrise essential
Those 3 windows are relatively comparable to each other. As noted above there are better products available. If you're on a budget and those are the 3 options, the Essentials from Sunrise has the better air leakage rating and come from the best of 3 manufacturers imo. I would put the Alside window 2...

I've used Ventana since I've been in this business haven't had any issues with them. Just to note Ventana will make the frame but doesn't put glass in them, the glass will be interred buy whatever "manufacturer" you get it from. ie MI, Okna, Simonton, Sunrise etc

The Potomac is an excellent window and will outperform RBA in every single category.

Re: Quaker Vinyl Windows
When considering the Okna is being quoted with jamb extensions the price between the windows isn't as large of a spread. Get it quoted without jamb extensions? Also I'm not familiar with Lang but I'd be concerned about a window with or without jamb extensions that cost less than 200 buck. When you f...

Re: Framing a three wide opening for individual windows
I haven’t really ran into that issue but you could just remove the million and shim if needed then install a new mull piece. You’ll likely damage the one you take off but they’re not to difficult to change out. There’s usually only about an 1/8” space between the two windows so I don’t really forese...

Re: Do Sunrise NRG IGUs appear visually different from non-NRG?
There is no visible difference between the NRG IGU vs the normal IGU. The difference doesn't have to due with the low e coating but the nominal thickness of the glass on th4e outer pane. We mix and match NRG and NRG all the time. Thanks WindowDirectCinci, I appreciate you chiming in with your NRG e...

Re: Do Sunrise NRG IGUs appear visually different from non-NRG?
Dfw gal. You are quoting the vt rating of the glass only. Once put into a window then there will be less light coming in when accounting for frame size, grids or sdls, even the screen options. I would always only look at rating of the entire window and not glass rating as you could be seriously misl...

The interior trim package would be an additional add on. We would normally install new casing at the job for cost reasons. The prefinished interior casing is super nice with absolutely perfect miters but can be expensive.
