Re: OKNA Eco Pro 600 with grids

Okna hands down, you’ll find Alside listed under AMI and the “foam cavity” is laughable compared to virtually every other brands foam filled frames

Re: OKNA Eco Pro 600 with grids

just to chime in grids usually change the SHGC a point or so. Not sure about with Okna but Id assume the same. Maybe the rep is referencing that

Re: Solution for window air conditioner

If your close to fitting you may also be able to just remove the sash from its shoes and leaving it in there but that may get you and extra inch or two. You need to watch some videos and learn how the shoes work so you don’t damage your window

Re: New windows - wrong glass

Can you tell what the glass specifies on the contract? Most manufacturers will give glass packages names instead of the technical code you are seeing on that purchase order. I don't know what some of it means but it looks like you got double pane 3mm glass w/Cardinals 366 Low-E which with i89. That ...

Re: New windows - wrong glass

Cardinal typically laser etches glass info into the lower corner of the glass if it's a cardinal IGU. It may provide you with the information you're looking for. It's unlikely the labels were printed wrong. Ask to see the purchase order from Cardinal? Not sure if the manufacturer will comply but wor...

I'm a big fan of the Thermal U Plus & for $32 more it seams like a no brainer to me. For the amount of windows you have the upgraded cost is very little compared to the overall object cost.

Re: I have Alside Fairfield 80 series windows that the outside noise is crazy

Why do you think they are wrong? It’s highly unlikely it’s incorrect. The numbers on the energy star label are going to be a reflection of the glass ordered. If you have information on the glass ordered with it that would be helpful or if you can post a photo of the energy star label or a white labe...

Re: I have Alside Fairfield 80 series windows that the outside noise is crazy

That window has an Air Leakage rate of .20ish, so they are drafty by design unfortunately. Also It's unlikely energy star stickers would be printed up wrong but anything is possible. If you post up some photos on the exterior that would be helpful regarding caulk. It is common practice not caulk aro...

Looks fine so far. They should insulate and trim those gaps before finishing.

Re: Very large replacement project

While I like fiberglass for my boat material I don’t see one single benefit in using it over vinyl for windows. Quite the opposite really, usually poor warranties, significant cost & subpar efficiency ratings. Saying it expands at the same rate as glass and that’s why it’s worth significantly mo...

Re: Strange rumbling sound in new Marvin Infinity windows

Could be the screen rattling or if you have grids in between the glass they could rattle slightly. I couldn't imagine an installation scenario other than not insulating around the window and something like exterior trim being loose and rattling

Gilkey is a mid tier window at best. Bulky, not aesthetically pleasing, middle of the road performance & outdated design. Okna is a clear winner here

Re: Okna 800 vs SoftLite Elements vs GreatLakes ComfortSmart

I'm not a dealer of Softlite or Okna so no bias here. It is a known fact that soft lite has had major quality control issues the last several years. While I do prefer the sleek locks compared to Okna 800 that is about the only thing I can say is better. If the Okna is also less that's a no brainer a...

Re: Issues with Anlin Windows in Denver, Colorado

Wow is spot on here. I would first check your home humidity levels. Aside from humidity issues, the first photo looks like there is a fitment issue between the frame and sash. Almost like the window isn't fully closed
