Re: Leak in window

I don’t think there is a drip cap just the window. I will do the hose test, that’s all good info. I was told no flashing was used just screws and sealant around replacement window.. Thank you You wouldnt use flashing tape with a replacement window install. It would only be used with a new construct...

Re: Replacing windows in Chicago area - Brand & Installer reviews

Oh gosh Uncle Eddie....dont be so salty! I promise I won't come crawling back to you, groveling for forgiveness when my provia windows fall out of my house and my family freezes to death. Salty about what? I told you that you were moving the right direction earlier by dropping the true bottom feede...

Re: Replacing windows in Chicago area - Brand & Installer reviews

Exactly why I went with Mikes comments. He probably has more experience with Pro-Via Windows then the rest of the Pro’s here combined. Mike's comments: Every order has QC issues. Likes their bm system because they screw the welds up and it covers them Guys at factory are hourglassing and bowing sas...

Re: Replacing windows in Chicago area - Brand & Installer reviews

The OP has also stated a favorable relationship and respect with the Pro-Via dealer. And that translates to qulaity excactly how? I have a favorable relationship and respect with my dentist, but I'm not going to let him check my prostate just because he's called Dr., has a lab coat and rubber glove...

Re: Replacing windows in Chicago area - Brand & Installer reviews

Perhaps being a little harsh on a homeowner that has done some valid research and has taken the advice. Clearly they are not trying being to go cheapest route possible but do not want to be paying Renewal prices either. Even Mike has said the Pro-Via is probably the best choice with the information...

Re: Replacing windows in Chicago area - Brand & Installer reviews

I'd be more concerned about the quality of the window than the screen frame. Sounds like you are moving in the rigth direction though with provia at the bottom end of your choices instead of the top

I thought my analogies were pretty good, i'm guessing that you secretly liked them as well or your panties wouldn't be in a bunch. Sounds like the OP made the right choice either way.

I'd try to find something more airtight personally. Leaky patio doors are a big source of complaints

Yep. You are going backwards here. Most visitors start with this type of thread and finish with your other one after education themselves.

Re: Okna 500, 800 vs Sunrise Restoration

BTW Sunrise has a .02 air infiltration rating and is an excellent window. In the southern Ohio area we have no issues with the surface 4 low e. I don't have Okna in my market so I can't comment on them other than they are well regarded. Y0u have some great options and don't think you could go wrong...

Re: Soft-Lite Elements vs. Renewal by Anderson

I’ll stand by my order , but as I said I can see some switching the 2 and 3 spot. Even your prior replies would support my order. The Pro May be old but was clearly ahead of its time and is still better most. Window tech moves slowly and often not forward. Even the Element is getting old and it’s c...
