Re: Andersen 400 v Marvin Integrity v Loewen v Sunrise Vanguard
I would just throw the upgrade kit in and be done with it depending on cost of course.Don't forget the cost or your time for staining/painting the windows.Stained windows typically don't require much for maintenance unless you get alot of condensation. If you can i would recommend the factory apllied...

I wasn't going to comment at all but Superior was asking for input. As far as making claims I am with Ecostar.I also will tell owners I do not know what the savings will be,not to expect much as far as savings go, there are far to many factors and best to get an energy audit with blower door test.Eve...

Re: Tax Credit Legislation
Are the windows in the East are of lower quality? They sell only single-hungs for your area?I found it interesting they have the tilt-n-turns,these are hard to find my area in vinyl. The local Silverline rep has silverline's in his house and the Norandex rep has Simonton's builder grade in his and the...

If you'd like to see our commercials, 6 years worth can be found here................ A lot of hits on my commercials the past 24 hours! Enjoy? I would expect some negative feedback on pimpin Atrium and Empire Pacific as the highest quality. These brands have not fared well on this site.I like the p...

Re: Strange window balance, trying to identify
I will guess Vetter.Maybe post a picture showing more of the window would help.I meant to say Pro-V,i can't remember if that was the brand or line of window. You may want to try looking at Truth Hardware(www.truth.com) they have almost everything.

I have been noticing this too.It just happened today in a post I responded to.I just figured the moderaters didn't like my reponses.I did repost with a more neutral,my guess is they will leave this one.

Re: window replacement advice
More details would be need to say if the price was to high or even not low enough. The Reliabilt has been a reliable window for me,I don't care for the Pella Thermastar vinyl series. The Reliabilt is not as expensive as most of the highly touted soft-lite,Simonton,Gorell windows as should be priced ac...

Re: Advice wanted on Serious Materials
seems like good pricing to me. Serious is a pretty good window and it is up there with the high quality windows such as Okna Windows and gorell. I don't think his quote was all that great unless it included alot of extra's,but hard to say without all of the details.I don't think the 300 series is a...

Re: question about mil thickness, glass loss and performance
yes and yes. i do not sell gorell but always endorse them because they have great quality whereas silverline does not. i know exactly where gorell gets their extrusions and where silverline gets their recycled vinyl. you can literally cut your finger by rubbing the weld of a silverline too hard. it...

Re: question about mil thickness, glass loss and performance
I doubt you'll notice the loss of glass that much unless you are looking for it.I would worry more about the other things first.I would go look at the windows in person and see for yourself.

Masterext,do you know what grade of vinyl that Silverline uses or what grade of vinyl Gorell uses?

Re: Silverline /Simonton / Don Young / Alside / Marvin / Lincoln
Where are you located? Don Young makes an outstanding thermally-broken aluminum window, but their vinyl is below average. Simonton's 5500 or 9800 series are a good choice in vinyl. Marvin doesn't make a vinyl window, so are you considering their fiberglass product - Infinity or their wood windows? ...

Re: Replacement duuble hung sashes for Pella Pro line
it is pretty unlikely that anyone will have a vinyl window sash that will fit a Pella frame. You could put in inserts or replace the unit.Do a google search on condensation, there is a lot of good information out there on causes and remedies.
