Re: Garden Windows

Just to hit on what the others have stated. Although the Provia and window would garden windows could essentially be the same “chassis” 80% of the window is glass and Provia’s glass system would be far superior than window worlds. With 4 glass panels in a garden window including one on top that gets...

Re: Window project stalled, need help.

Not to complicate matters more but there is a very good dealer near you in Lafayette,BlueBird Windows & Doors. Sounds like he may be a good fit for what you’re looking for and has multiple product options. I know he will do you a good job.

Re: How to pick between Soft-Lite, Sunrise & Okna?

I would start by contacting each company and exploring if they'll even let you become a dealer. All 3 of those companies vet their dealers and look for strategic partners.

Re: IWC or Milgard aluminum

Condensation on the glass (not in between) is usually indicative of humidity issues in the house and not reflective of a problem with the window

Re: Aluminum capping over a vynal window.

I agree with everyone one else here. We do not do it that way but is very common. We would do that with 3 pieces so 2 seams or with polyurethane flex trim. Only drawback to the polyurethane is it will need to be painted. It takes a lot of patience to do those in 2-3 seams. I would call them and have...

Re: AI on Window Nation's Addison?

.17. I agree with the window nerd. They have clever marketing but don’t provide any value in going with them. Their value is terrible. (Price vs product quality) and you’ll likely get terrible service. Private equity owned companies don’t have the consumers interest in mind, just its investors

Re: basement window replacement

Well both are right. It can be done either way. The issue with removing the steel frame is it could damage the concrete around it or the drywall. If installer 1 is telling you he will not damage the drywall and you prefer that method just hold him accountable to repair any drywall damage. We primari...

Re: OKNA 800 ENVIRO STAR VS SUNRISE RESTORATION

Thats great that you won some free windows! Are they able to convert those free ones to the 800 series. Sounds like that deal is to good to pass up. You're comparing to great products but that price spread makes it an easy decision in my opinion.

Re: replacement casement window options?

There are a couple of thoughts about that. Do you have the money to afford the price increase. The TP will probably give you a $600 tax credit. That would offset the cost by almost half. The n3200a will not qualify for the tax credit. The only two options that would qualify are the s3210a or n3210a...

Re: replacement casement window options?

He said Sunrise doesn't use Cardinal glass. Is their glass as good as Cardinal? Also the two openings in my garage, I'd like to use a real good glass package to keep the heat out. I've been putting up a plastic shield over the windows in the summer to keep the heat out. Is there a certain glass pac...

I'm sure you could get all of those products in your area & it looks like your considering some good choices.... Going to a homeshow is a great way to see products almost side by side and get a feel for the quality of each. I would start there. Im a big fan of the design of the Sunrise casements...

Re: Expectation vs. Reality

I’d recommend calling the company and verify they were ordered the NRG glass. They could have made a mistake. You may also be able to tell a difference of the inner pane and outer pane by tapping on the glass as one is thicker than the other and theoretically sound different. There are numerous vari...

They're may be a few different options other than sliders such as double hungs or casements. I agree with you sliders are my least favorite of pretty much all the styles for a variety of reasons. Sometimes they are the best option for certain situations such as sizing of your window openings. If you...

Re: which side is the bead on?

Its sometimes visible to the eye on the opposite side of the glazing bead. I wouldn't plan on removing the IGU taking it to the shop and reinstalling it unless your ok with having plywood in place of the glass for however long it takes to get one made. If its wet glazed id give you about a 5-10% of ...
