He probably measured the windows “ rough open” which is very common. You dont ever order windows the exact size of the opening in order to properly square the window during install.Some contractors may measure from inside and some may choose to do it from the outside. 1/2” space is pretty typical.

I believe the pella 250 air leakage rate is higher than .1 on a double hung. Its not good window in my opinion.

The reliabilt looked extremely bulky and outdated. It didnt come across as quality to me.

Crystal and Silverline are total garbage. Unless you want the cheapest looking windows in the world, stick to your original quotes.

Their install seems to be within the realm of acceptability. They will win any legal dispute.

Thats very difficult to quantify, what may be noisy to you may not be noisy to the installer. Its certainly not the installers fault.
Also, you claim “ prior to him changing the caulk you could’nt hear a siren”. Changing caulk has nothing to do with sound. I think you may be grasping at straws.

Not sure what state you live in but as far as quality and energy efficiency with a nice looking exterior, you may want to look into Okna Windows.

are you sure your pricing is correct; only 3k for a 9ft patio door including install? thats extremely cheap.

The Okna will be a better product although Tri State in Long Island are decent.

It probably has nothing to do with the install. The sill or screen may be a little bowed. Either way the installer could probably fix it.
