Re: Windows in Delaware
The Sunrise Restoration is not a fiberglass window. It does have a fiberglass/composite reinforcement in the meeting rail, however, it is all vinyl. Unless they are planning on a full tear out, you should have looked at the Infinity window. I don't have any complaints against that windows in terms ...

Re: Price Quote on Soft-lite....Thoughts
That's a very good price for the Imperial Pro. The LS is a better window but you aren't going to get it for that kind of price. I'd go for it.

Re: Final Decision: Elements / Verde / Ultramaxx
With that new pricing, I would go with the regular Sunrise. Not because I think it's any better than the Elements but just because I think it's a nicer looking window. That's my own personal opinion, others are free to disagree. The only difference between the Verde and the Sunrise is the Verde come...

Re: Final Decision: Elements / Verde / Ultramaxx
My choice would be the Elements. Just to correct a few things, the Sunrise door is reinforced with fiberglass and also has foam. It also comes standard with a triple point lock. IMO it's the best door of the group and probably the best on the market. Soft-lite Thermal-Glide is reinforced with metal ...

Re: Opinion needed!
Margiechef, the above post is a gross exaggeration of the quality of the Alside Sheffield window. While there are better windows available IMO for around the same price as you were quoted, it is not true that if you buy Alside windows that they will fall apart within a few years.

Re: Opinion needed!
Our home is 12 years old and the windows are failing. 10 have cracked or lost their seal. We have a total of 36 windows and the contractor who came out suggested that we replace all of them since he felt they would eventually go as well. His price for Alside Sheffield low-e double hungs was $18,000...

Re: Quote review in Orlando
I've sold hundreds of the 2300.Excellent window and PGT will stand behind it. The main difference between Sh & Dh is the top sash tilts in for cleaning. If you are ground floor it may not be worth it to you.

Hopefully you haven't paid him in full. Just tell him to get back out there and get it cleaned up to your satisfaction..

Re: Accent Southwest in New Mexico
Sorry we can't help you. I don't recall anyone who posts on here from your area. Angies List and references from their past customers is probably going to be your best bet. It may be it's a very good window. They are NFRC rated, so that's a good sign.

Re: Simonton 9800 window quote
Well my house sit a top a bluff and gets hit with quite a bit of wind I'm concerned that the foam wrapping won't be enough to stop the wind from getting in. If you purchase a quality window and get a top notch install, you will not have to be concerned. You aren't going to get a breeze coming throu...

Re: Simonton 9800 window quote
I never order it with the foam strip because I pay an additional $7.00 per window for it. The foam is cheaper for me but then again we do tip to tip measurements.

I agree but I wouldn't go so far as to saying the foam wrap is worthless. I'd rather have that than nothing.Windows on Washington wrote:I would not press them to use something that they are not comfortable with, however, he is incorrect.
The foam collar on the window is mostly worthless at stopping air movement.

Re: Black exterior on vinyl (Harvey specific)
I agree with the salesman. I would not be comfortable with selling a window with a painted black exterior without making the appropriate disclosures. It's more prone to warping and anything painted black would show fading pretty quickly.

Re: Accent Southwest in New Mexico
It's usually best to get references from local companies and call them. You can also use the BBB and Angies List. This site is more for consumers who are looking for information about different window manufacturers, what to look for, installation techniques, and comparisons between different windows...
