Re: windows

$600 per window is a screaming bargain for the Quantum 2 with heat mirror. Around here they get $850-$1200 per window. Not all Q2's use heat mirror. They have standard DP and TP options as well. The Q2 also has a pocket sill which is not optimum IMO. Sounds like Alure to me.... OP if you like Ander...

Re: windows

Perhaps because Andersen vinyl windows aren't very high quality. Your friend would have done better buying Saran wrap.

Re: replacement window newbie with a leak that wont stop

It's up to you if you want to encourage these types of tactics. If you still decide to go with him, I'd at least let him know you don't appreciate it and how close he came to blowing the whole sale. If nothing else, he may at least re-consider his approach.

If you are on a budget, have you considered vinyl windows?

Re: Recommendations for replacement windows

If you get in touch with dealers of those brands, they should be able to explain the different models and help you decide which one suits you best. There is no such thing as one window being right for everyone. Everyone has different needs and budget ideas.

Re: Recommendations for replacement windows

Depending on the model, Softlite is probably the best window you have looked at so far. If it was in your budget, that would be my choice. If you want to continue to shop, some of the windows we all agree we like are Sunrise, Okna, and Gorell. Might want to look at Simonton also since it's pretty li...

Re: Looking for least expensive most durable problem free option

I've never heard of Continental and I just don't have enough experience with Serious to offer a fair opinion. I am a Softlite Dealer so I've experience with it and even before I carried it, I knew it was a pretty nice window for the money. I also carry Sunrise and Simonton which are both excellent b...

Re: Looking for least expensive most durable problem free option

Then I'd choose between the Okna 400 and the Softlite Barrington. Both would be a great choice. For me the tie breaker would be who you think would do the most professional installation.

Re: No wrap on sides of windows.

I thought they had pretty much made it clear that they couldn't do anything more for you and that this is the only way it could be done? That's why I recommended the heavy artillery.

Re: No wrap on sides of windows.

Good for you. I wouldn't put up with this type of treatment from a shady contractor like this either. You should call Window Worlds home office and complain as well as file a complaint with the BBB. Hopefully, others won't make the same mistake.

Re: No wrap on sides of windows.

They have your money. Now they just want you to go away, be quiet, and not make trouble for them. They aren't going to supply you with any names of customers. They aren't going to do anything for you.

Re: No wrap on sides of windows.

Why so cryptic about who you bought the windows from?
