Re: Replacement windows in Illinois

Guys... He's already contacted me and we've met. He is wanting to do his due diligence and do a little more research from multiple sources, so please answer any of his questions with your best answers about his situation. I'll sit out this thread and go watch TV.

Re: Find company responsible for my window warranty

Back about the time you bought your windows Norandex was bought by St. Gobain. They stopped handling the Reynolds line and started selling the Viewpoint by Atrium to replace them with. I'm not sure who you go to for warranty service, but Norandex should be able to point you in the right direction li...

Re: Find company responsible for my window warranty

Norandex probably supplied those windows to local contractors in your area. That's where I'd start, at your local Norandex. If that doesn't work contact Reynolds Building Products. Get the order number, sizes, etc. out of the header of the windows as you will need that to file a claim. (On double hu...

Re: What style are these windows called?

It looks to me that the upper and lower rows horizontally are picture windows and the middle row is awning windows. I run into similar type windows a lot here in Illinois. My own home had two sets just like these before I replaced them.

Re: Marvin Ultrex vs Renewal Fibrex

If you have a Starmark dealer nearby you might look at them. They are made by Okna. It's a cellular composite window and you can order them with nailing fins. If you need extension jambs they are an option as well. The Double Hung has a.05 air infiltration rate and for a small upcharge you can get t...

Re: Who Makes a Good Garden Window That's Not Too Expensive?

Since the entire window is hanging off the outside of the wall the window will get very cold inside. My recommendation would be to do the garden window with triple pane. You will have a better chance of fighting condensation on the glass that way.

Re: Pella Logic - Patio Doors

Maybe the screen is on the inside so that you don't lose any bugs when you open the screen to close the door. All the bugs end up safe and secure inside the home...

Re: Can you tell me if my installers are cutting corners?

Guy, can't speak specifically to Alside, however that lower night latch issue on sliders is fairly common across brands. To remedy, we will remove the insert from the sill and add some type of inorganic material to shim it up without covering the drainage paths, etc. Should not have to do it, but I...

Re: patio door replacement

You can order custom size doors from both Sunrise and Okna. You will find that Okna has a lower charge for the custom size upgrade.

Re: Can you tell me if my installers are cutting corners?

No way they are budging... maybe you shouldn't budge when it comes to paying another cent. The way I see it you are the one in control. After all, you have a signed contract that says "Remove ALL existing window components". They don't have a leg to stand on the way I see it. All they have...

Re: Can you tell me if my installers are cutting corners?

The contract says "Remove all existing window components". So, with that right there in the contract, why did they go and measure them to fit an opening where they do NOT remove all the existing window components? They just bought your silence and cooperation so that they can put this nigh...

Hi Guy, It sounds like he's in Minneapolis just like you. I'll bet you could give him some good local advice on his install.

Re: Can you tell me if my installers are cutting corners?

Any chance you could post a bunch more pictures for us? Take some from the outside too so we can see their plan for flashing the windows. I don't like what I'm seeing at all, but would like to see more before commenting further.

Re: Soft-Lite Elements Triple Pane vs Pella 250 Series

Don't worry about the light. They don't tint the windows dark like older generation triple panes did. Many people can't tell it's even triple without looking at the spacer around the edge.
