Re: Lead free vinyl windows in USA

Professor of Chemistry I would guess. College level. Calcium is not the interesting thing to know. That would be if the ________cell generation is used in production.

10 green points through 9-12.

Re: Lead free vinyl windows in USA

serginfo, You found the right site. Contact them and they will work with you. I believe marketing materials are being translated currently. I took a look at the site and on the right side they briefly mention what you are possibly looking for. Actually Kommerling is not a bad product it just did not...

Re: Lead free vinyl windows in USA

The 3 brands you indicated are not considered very good in Germany or the UK although they are far superior to most US windows. The Weber Window made in Germany for us uses a lead free profile for export. You should check because all vinyl in Germany has lead to my knowledge, they tend to use a lead...

Re: confused after first presentation

2 windows met in a bar one day. Both were vinyl. One said the other was crap because he did not have a little sawdust in him. The other turned and asked if too much fiber made him more pompous and air-agant. The barkeep told the one pompous window his days were numbered. Some day someones going to p...

Re: Sunrise vs Window World

Before you dismiss the Infinity you should look at the air and water performance. The vinyl sliders above are air leakers and will leak even more next year, then more the following year. The Infinities are rated light commercial and the air leakage this year will be the same in 30 years.

Re: Help: Provia Integra 300 OR Soft-Lite Imperial LS window?

Soft-lite hands down. My Integras are holding up but did start leaking air after 3 years. They both use the same night latches so have your dealer supply you with some spares. I chose the Integra because my double hung top sashes have up to 52 diamonds and most have 39 and Soft-lite could not do the...

Re: Rotten wood MW windows, but only need replace a few

Homeseal and the Wowser pretty much have it pegged. I understand these are wood windows, not clad... The average life of a wood window built in that period is 20 to 25 years and we have replaced them in 8-12 years. They were built to provide a stimulus to us and the manufacturers. The EPA was involv...

Re: soft-lite window quality

Of the 7 sashes with the problem there was a total of 3 shipments of replacement sashes before SL said they would do no more. The three trips were costly as the job was 1.5 hours away. SL did re-imburse us for the initial trip. You can find info from the poster mstap or mstapp on this or the other b...

Re: soft-lite window quality

I have had a few issues with grills with the super spacer. The shipping, e.g., vibrations from traveling in the trucks is what we believe is the culprit.
Only on 1 order but it warrants a post I believe.

Re: air-tite window quality

Air Leakers did not sound like a good name for a window company.

Did they give you a cost of "99/ month".

Do some comparisons. Ask them for a copy of their AIA test documents.

Re: Compression jamb liners- bad?

Bad... No. Outdated...yes. 1970 technology. We have developed a method of installing 5/8" backer rod behind the jamb from the interior which takes about 10 minutes per window. Todd indicates a storm window use as well but he is in Minn. The compression liner, being made of plastic, tend to allo...

Re: Replacement Windows, Excalibur or Silver Line 9500

We are not being creeps.

You just asked which was better, a retread tire with a hole in it or a retread tire with a whole in it.

Doesn't matter if it says BFGoodrich or Bridgestone.

Its' a retread with a hole in it.
