Re: Marvin Infinity or Renewal by Anderson

Buddy, I know you will lose approx 2-1/2 more inches in the width when comparing Gorell 5300 to the Infinity. How wide are the Starmarks if you know? WOW? (frame to dlo) Is it like a cantelope to a watermelon, sorry, apple to big pink grapefruit comparison. Lets make this organic fruit then the Infi...

Re: Help with Al-clad Wood vs Fiberglass

We are finding the Hurd is a better value than the products you indicated. In our Hist districts some have to use wood while others let clad wood be acceptible. In no areas do they allow LowE glass here because of the tinting and no fiberglass is allowed. If they allow clad aluminum there is clad al...

Although pricing has so many variables, full frame, brick mould trim, insert, etc... (Buddy, you better check your $ on 8-0/6-5 doors, I believe you were thinking 5-0/6-5. Also, the XL edge spacer from Cardinal has the lowest failure rate. They make other spacers and other vendors buy there rw glass...

Unless things have changed recently here are my thoughts: 1. no such thing 2. double hung sash set 3. you can order directly from Andersen for the same your rep pays 4. they send instructions with new sashes and liners or at least new sashes- its been awhile 5. we used to get these in 1 week from or...

Start there and then use the knowledge you gain to find out what you like, what you do not and then you will have a better idea what products and options are the right choice for you and your home.

Re: Reccomendations for replacement windows in KY

You have a plethera of choices. Some of the best products on the market can be found in Kentucky. edwulf has good advise. After you get your feet wet, so to speak, you will be initiated into the wonderful world of windows. Your post was vague from what the pros need here. - wood windows? - brick sid...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uryupr43gY You would be suprised at a double pane with argon with a U value below 0.2 and you would also be surprised at a triple with a U value of 0.05 but I have them. The exclusive agreement was made yesterday for us to own Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennes...

Re: Need replacement wooden windows to match existing

If these are wood windows, not clad, there are a few options open to you. 1. custom sashes from a local mill. 2. have a craftsmen cut the overlap of the wood onto the glass, replace the glass, then install a glazing bead( recommend installing to the inside. 3. some glass companies may be able to cha...

Re: Fiberglass windows for 4-season deck enclosure

Sorry Buddy. I was just pointing out that there are double pane lowE units with argon in the world that have a U value below 0.2 So while there is definately some education of great importance going on in this thread, I just wanted to clarify that you do not need to go to triple pane to get below a ...

...I am at a loss of words. Sounds like the sales person is a composite of perjury. Ask him if the binder is cow manure. It would be an organic binder no doubt. Andersen has happy cows.

Re: JELD-WEN IPEX VS AMCRAFT GRAND ESTATES

I am unfamiliar with Amcraft. The Ipex is a very nice looking medium performing product. Miles ahead of alside, not near soft-lite. The warranty is awesome. I would recommend this product as a decent window. We use this product as a competitor to Renewal. They look similar but hundreds less and the ...

Re: Help with Window in Cincy. 2 Many Choices Not Enough Dealers

The Infinity will give you the most daylight in your application if this is you major concern. You will gain 3" in width daylight over a 5300 for example. I believe one of the Soft-lite dealers for your area also carries the Infinity.

Hope this helps.
