Re: seaway v. Park avenue

PA is somewhat of an outdated design with its pocket sill, but that is one of the better prices I've seen on it, especially with krypton. You could definitely do worse, although you might also do better.

Re: Replacement windows Gorell Timeless or Stanek

So what will deliver more tangible results to a consumer, a DP 70 vs 50, or a u-value of .17 vs .21??? Folks who post nothing but completely biased information have 0 credibility with other pros here, and I'm sure that consumers see through that as well. Stanek is an "assembler" of a decen...

I'd highly recommend against any modification that would void your warranty, especially if there are solutions that would not.

Re: What upgrades really matter

Wow has some great info there... Essentially, anytime you get better insulated glass you will get a higher CR number = less chance for condensation. The other two parts are whether or not you have other issues causing all of the moisture, and also the cost of the upgrades, which can vary by dealer.

You'd be surprised, a lot of young people think that they look dated, especially those going for more of a "contemporary" look.

Re: need advice: replace with picture window or bay window?

Its really just about personal preference. A bay would gain you some usable space for knick-knacks, etc, and make the room feel larger, but it is really up to the preference of a future buyer as to whether or not it would add value. Many people like bay windows, some do not.

Re: 2010 TAX CREDIT

This probably is not the answer that you are looking for, but it is correct nonetheless: You are not an attorney or an accountant. You can prove to the client that the window you sell him meets the energy-efficiency requirements specified in the tax credit and provide he/she with documentation, but ...

Re: THERE IS NO PRODUCT IN EXISTENCE THAT FITS MY NEEDS!!!!

Not to criticize, but it sounds like their are plenty of options that fit your needs, just none that fit exactly what you want... There are plenty of great vinyl products out there that offer all of the features that you are looking for, or you could go with the fiberglass, but sacrifice one or two ...

Re: Gorell quote

I don't have an exact measurement, but the 5100 Dh's won't be much thicker than the casements. The 5300's are (thicker), but the 5100's will save you a nice bit of glass. I typically like to upgrade that window with fiberglass reinforcement and foam in the frame for an extra few bucks. I think its a...

bkb, just throwing my $.02 here: there is no such thing as a perfect window or a perfect company. The fact is, you have found two great overall choices. The Okna has slightly better specs, and the Gorell (in my own experience) has excellent customer service, which may or may not be better than Okna'...

bkb, I would put a lot of stock in buddy and anthony's recommedations as it appears as though they are both very close to your area. Not sure if either services your area, but you can find out by clicking the "Get quote" button by their name... You won't find a better guy to do business wi...
