Re: double hung windows with decorative+privacy glass
Sunrise and ProVia. Gluechip is a popular option as a base for privacy and decorative, however it may not give you as much privacy as something like rain glass.

Re: MI Windows & Doors /Sunrise acquisition
If Harbor Freight purchased Snap On................ You will be fine with regular windows or patio sliders. Do not even consider a bay, bow, or garden window as they changed vendors to build them and the current ones belong in the centerfold of Fangoria magazine.

Re: Removing siding vs cutting it back
The new PVC/Azek trim boards will need a nail fin "relief" table saw cut on the back to allow for the thickness of the vinyl window's nailing flange. This will allow the new trim boards to lay flat/true on the sheathing for proper miter or box joints.

Re: Windows Dilemma in Northwest Indiana (Provia vs Sunrise)
The ProVia option will outperform the double in the Vanguard from experience with both series. I do like the Vanguard better regarding the sash panels and hardware. It's a shame the rep can't do more of an apples to apples triple glass package to compare without jacking the price.

Re: During & After Installation Advice
The new windows and slider will have the NFRC stickers on the glass on every window and the door. Just ask them for one to be removed so you can keep for your records. That sticker will show that it's the Envirostar and Elegante.

Re: Jump Frame Sill "blocking" material recommendations
Looks like a southern climate "do not disturb the stucco" thing to me. Glad I don't have deal with in our area. If forced, I'm sure I could find a way to make the job harder and less profitable for myself.

Re: Is exterior trim required on Okna replacement windows?
Your installer is installing a downsized replacement window and not a flanged new construction window of the same size as your existing window. Hopefully this doesn't effect any blind brackets.

Re: Glass fogging/streaking in AC 8500 windows
Most of the AC windows where actually made in NJ by Silverline Windows. It's about the cheapest window one can purchase and I'm not surprised with the seal failures. Andersen Windows acquired Silverline and that AC Home Depot line for like a decade and dumped them to Plygem from what I remember. Dea...

Re: Windows replacement - Recommendations please
I've not been selling and installing but a few uniquely optioned Sunrise Vanguard projects per year since I'm in OKNA's backyard feel that their product fits my marketplace and preferences. I use to get a really nice full size Vanguard brochure that had most of the information in it similar to the r...

Re: Windows replacement - Recommendations please
The Sunrise is better than the Aspect. I'm a direct certified dealer for both and still install both of those series. Those u-factors are off a bit too, maybe center of glass and not overall? On a standard Sunrise product (white or tan), Sunrise's lead times are pretty fast now. 3-4 weeks depending ...

Re: Sunrise Vanguard Weep hole
I've been installing regular Sunrise base and Vanguard series DH units since 2004 and have never had one not irrigate water correctly as designed with the pitched sill. I've had issues with one of the patio sliding doors that was installed into a hostile on the river storm area that can have some wa...

Re: Are prices of windows going up?
I cannot speak for Simonton pricing, but Sunrise has another price increase coming, OKNA just hit us with one, and there are constant Covid surcharges. It surprise me with what's going on with gas/oil prices if this gets a lot worse soon too.

Re: just replacing the window glass instead of the entire window.
If a finless replacement window is installed it would be advisable for it to at least be made a little smaller if not the sheetrock downsize sizing. You must get spray foam around the window as the mechanical flanged seal is now gone and you need squaring room Exterior vinyl j-channel will have flex...

Re: Provia Aspect or Sunrise Standard?
I don't know what Sunrise did with the Essential platform regarding it's name, but I think it's been killed off and rightfully so. I think that "drop" window is now a MI entry level window and it's just as horrible from what one of my larger Sunrise New England colleagues told me.
