Re: Window world - are they Energy Star? Good for Rebate or not?
I just searched my van but cannot find a WW sales order than someone gave me years ago. It had such things as dual locks, removal of existing storm windows, and even trash disposal all as extras. Perhaps a $189 window is well suited for your needs and budget. It just seems that you are price conditi...

Re: Window world - are they Energy Star? Good for Rebate or not?
The Energy Star program has been around for a while now. It's a regional program while the 2009/2010 Federal Stimulus blankets the entire country. They have never been synchronized. A window can be Energy Star and not qualify for the Stimulus rebate. I'm not quite sure where you have read on this fo...

Re: sunrise windows question
The lower lift rail is not extruded as part of the sash. It's the bottom interior glazing bead. They have fixed this problem several years ago and we have had only a couple of bad ones back before 2006. It was an easy fix with some Novaflex. I believe Great Lakes and Plygem also have their lift rail...

OKNA is a very popular window manufacturer right now and several of the seasoned Pros on this board are doing quite well with them. I think that OKNA is putting out a good product line right now. Someone will most likely chime in on the differences between the various series with OKNA. The 1450 seri...

You might drive yourself insane interviewing and trying to find a contractor that you feel comfortable installing those Imperials for you. A good dealer that has been working with one of regarded brands that is often mentioned on this board for some time now, and is going to give you a great install...

Re: Are Earthwise, Newton Slocumb, and Dream House the same.
I had forgotten the triple heat mirror Slocumb window. Delaware has a mid-size window business that does them. They used to really advertise them a lot in the local paper. The windows that I've seen from Dreamhouse in my opinion, are barely mid-grade at best. Since they compete with Castle, their pr...

Re: Are Earthwise, Newton Slocumb, and Dream House the same.
I was told something different. One of my friends that sells one of their products said that Newtown acquired Slocomb, and that one of the owners of Dreamhouse has stake in the Newtown portion of the business. Good grief, would/could one ever figure out the real truth? Would it matter? Most of these...

30-years, yes you certainly have earned them. I just saw some of the new Plygem/Great Lakes stuff and it looked pretty good. From what I remember they were always a little bit on the expensive side.

Well there Buddy, you just go ahead a rock on with your bad self with those Integrity's. It's nice to hear that the shoemaker's kids are wearing Prada. Does Prada even make shoes? If they do or did, I'm sure that they would be nice. I know of a lot of installers in the industry that don't have the n...

Re: Quotes for Replacement Windows
I like the Sunrise window better than the Reflections as I think it's a more attractive looking window. I'm not a real big fan of single hung windows as at some point the homeowner is going to have fight with a ladder to clean the glass on the outside of those upper sashes. $3,800 is a lot of money ...

Re: Marvin fiberglass vs. vinyl triple pane
"Fibercore" is just a fancy name for a fiberglass reinforcement bar insert that is slide into the horizontal meeting rail sash extrusions on their vinyl windows. I'm most likely the most pro Sunrise advocate on these forums. The Sunrise sashes on really wide double-hungs are tall sliders a...

Re: Info Needed - Archer Exteriors
Give them a call and ask who is the manufacturer. They are real close to me, however none of my customers have ever had them out for an estimate for me to see what products they are carring. Their business was really the new construction market until that came crashing down. Give us some of the deta...

Re: Sunrise Design Changed?
Sunrise did address this issue. During the time frame that you mentioned, I had just a few of the liftrails come loose and just basically re-glazed them with Novaflex (commercial silicone) and never had a problem with those particular double-hungs with them coming loose again. When I was out to Sunr...
