I agree with Uncle Eddie. Even so, home shows can be fun.

Re: Ideal window Vs. Tri-state window

For a low volume project the pricing seems okay at $5700.
For that price you should find a better product like Okna or Vytex.

Are they a vinyl frame? Do they have grids? between the glass or glued to both the exterior and interior of the sash? Deglaze the sash ( remove the old glass: remove the sash stops, run a putty knife or deglazing tool against the taped/wet glazed side, remove the glass, clean sash rabbit, tape or we...

Re: Okna 600 vs. Provia Aspect

Great comments from DE Mike. He has broad hands on knowledge of the type of product you are looking for. He is a Nerd in all the right ways. Along with his experience you have overwhelming comments to validate a Okna purchase.
I too give the same advice.

Re: replacement casement window options?

There are a couple of thoughts about that.
Do you have the money to afford the price increase.
The TP will probably give you a $600 tax credit. That would offset the cost by almost half.

Re: Can a vynal window be as good as a composite window?

I would suggest looking at some high performnce vinyl: OKna800DX or higher, Vytex Potomac or higher.
In Andersen Windows I suggest Woodwright or higher.

Re: MN Vinyl (Softlite Elements/Imperial, Sunrise)

Fairly standard looking twin casement.
Remove the sash, remove the stops, cut out the mullion, install the new 2 section slider, foam, add shoe, cap and seal exterior.

Re: replacement casement window options?

Yup, it is the three sided issue all home owners face.
Finding excellent product.
Finding excellent installation service.
Finding an excellent company to provide both the above.
A deficit any one of those three will make a bad project.

Re: Cinderblock replacement window options

If the block opening is true I would tapcon the vinyl window directly into the block . allow 1/4" deduction around the perimeter so you can spray window and door foam, flat trim both sides and caulk.

Re: Looking for installer/dealer in the San Diego Area

Most of the pros on the board are on the east coast to mid contry.

Look at Installation Masters to see if there are any certified installers in your region.
Also if you find a mfg you like ask them for two referrals.

He answered it

"The color will fade, since everything fades when exposed to UV over time, but tan will not fade significantly, in my experience. That lighter color will hold up well over the 15 years."

Re: Clad Wood Windows for new addition in New Orleans

You can install the siding.
Just make a 5/4 x 4 picture frame, temporarily tack it in place over your building wrap, when the windows come with ifns remove the 5/4 x 4 surround install windows, tape, cut surround to fit and permantly attach.

Re: replacement casement window options?

They will make wider than 36" casements, this is supported by their size chart that also presents different glass options and the limits.
