Re: DC Metro Area - Soft-Lite?

If that Elements quoute included triple glazing with Krypton that price is in check. Even with double glazing, Super Spacer and any extra's such as top/bottom sculptured grids are costing us dealers a lot more than a few years ago.

Re: Trimline Legends series vs. Marvin wood/clad window

I'm a vinyl guy not a wood guy, but I have installed some Trimline wood/aluminum clad pocket windows. The Legend series is Trimline's very best window and is glazed with Edgetech's Super Spacer. With that being said the Marvin performance numbers are still better. You would be hard pressed to find a...

Re: Bristol Windows

Check the NFRC for the performance numbers. U-factor wasn't very impressive from my memory. Overpriced.........

Basically an aluminum window subframe with a vinyl exterior.

Re: Power vs. Castle

I know a great deal about both of those outfits. North East Buiding Products is the manufacturer of the Power Windows Sashlite "Crusader" window. While Soft-Lite is the maker of the Castle window. Both of these windows are blue white vinyl extrusions which are very ugly in my opinion compa...

Buddy,

Did you see an even amount of problems with all of the Schuco products? Or, was it with most of the new Euro stuff?

I wasn't sure about their triple-glazing. Thanks for clearing things up. Very impressive numbers. The lowest u-factor that I could verify on the NFRC's website was a .16, which is very impressive. I would like to see some reviews on this product and/or talk to some installers that have installed the...

The Celutec product that you mentioned from Window Wizards is the OKNA Starmark line with a private label. It is made locally which is a plus. The cons on this window line is that in order for it to achieve it's low air infiltration numbers OKNA's top sash and jamb design makes it very hard for the ...

George, No doubt that your Father worked in one of the hardest fields out there. I had a friend that passed away from bone cancer (in his face) just shy of age 40 and he was a pipe fitter/welder. I've personally worked for Duponts and the vinyl division of BF Goodrich. I was right out of school and ...

$30 to $100 a window is what the owner of the crew gets paid for his services. Out of that pay, he must pay his guys, dump/disposal fees, liability insurance, workmens compensation for each employee, commercial insurance sometimes for the bigger trucks, health insurance if he is not on his spouses p...

I have 2 different installers that have installed plenty of Paradigm windows. They both speak very highly of the window and the company. They love how easy the window is to install and to operate. If there are any problems the company will bend over backwards to make things right. I frequently stop ...

I don't think that you can even get a hardcoat low-e with Soft-Lite with their blinds? In certain circumstances they are really neat and all of our customers have been real pleased so far.

WW in my area seems to be doing quite well. I took the day off yesterday and took the family to the Jersey shore. I saw on a major hwy a nice new giantic WW billboard and a brand new WW work truck with all of the bells and whistles. Perhaps he is getting more like $450 - $500 a window????????????????

We have a WW right in the next county. Many times I'll go out to see some folks that have had them out for an estimate. What I've found is that people simply remember one thing. PRICE!!!!!!!!! Just the other day I spent some time with a couple who had WW give them a verbal quote of $200 a window and...

When you look at a Schuco installed it really looks totally differenty than almost all of the vinyl windows on the market. Part of it is the linen white vinyl color, provided that you are looking at white windows. Their mortised steel lift handles have a clean and beautiful look as opposed to extrud...
