A friend of mine had installed 7 of the least expensive windows he could get his hands on. These windows are made here locally. Now, 18 months later, he has condensation between the panes on 2 of them already. This happen to me when I ordered 1 replacement pane from a local com. to replace a pane I ...

Re: sound and noise and stuff

In order to have sound you need three things, a source, a medium, and a detector. You are bordering on philosophical ground with the last item here. :) I don't think so. I see a stapler in front of me and you do not, now I see the stapler because of three things, stapler/source, light/medium, and a...

It quite amazing when i am in a car setting at a red light next to a noisy diesel truck how much sound difference there is if your window is closed completely or open just a fraction.

Just my 2 cents...I would stay with composite or fiberglass. I cannot know this for sure, but i feel that 40 or 50 years from now composite or fiberglass will still be in good condition. I have the Renewal casements and i have no regrets. I will report back in 50 years or so and let you how or if th...

"as long as I think/know it will last." That's just it, this was a one of the key factors in my decision. I found that there are windows being replaced way too soon. How long does a new roof last, 25, 45 years? I feel a good window should last way longer than a roof. One of the key factors...

I chose Renewal because i wanted a natural wood interior and the exterior color (tarantin) suites this house this house so i will not have to paint. The one thing i did not know for sure is how good there service would be, but i am happy to say it was first rate.

"So while the customer service person is technically correct in saying that the blinds are “low emissivityâ€Â￾ it is at the cost of things like visible light and the view out the window. Heck, aluminum foil makes for great low emissivity numbers when used to cover a window"

Oberon, Thanks for the clarification, i understand what what your saying.

I just got off the phone talking to Sunrise Windows, and she said that the blinds do have Low-E coating on one side of the blinds and they come in four different colors. In the summer to help keep the heat out, you would close the blinds so that the Low-E faces out and in the winter you would close ...
