DavinCincy, The bottom line of how I would have stack my checklist: a. find a good installer b. select the best window the selected installer has to offer VA-Windows I agree; If the installation is not good, (water damage, air leaks, do not work properly etc.) you may have been better off with the ...

I was considering Schuco but Schuco would not let me use the installer that I know would do good a good job; but they almost did. The window dealer that was selling the Schuco windows is like 185 miles from here, that is a very long drive to come back to correct problems I may encounter. If Schuco w...

Guy, I understand where your coming from with your post, but the title of this thread is not accurate. You are not impressed with the window you described; I may be wrong, but I thought sunrise's casement is a decent window.

"1/4" might not seem to be alot but you could pull a knotted string thru it."

handyman19619, He did not say knotted string, he said knotted shoestring; there would BIG difference in knot size. It is not clear to me if he actually pulled the knots through.

FedEx What windowrep is asking for is also what I would like to know. If U-factors range went from 1.00 to 0.00 (which they don't), it would be much clearer for a window shopper to understand the % difference in efficiency from one window to the next. Then a window with a U-factor of 0.30 would be 7...

FenEx, look at what you are saying here...."If trip/kryp .22 windows saved someone $1,000 per year on their energy bills, than the dbl/arg .33 would save about $700. If you are talking 15 windows at a cost of $50 per for the upgrade that's $750. At the present rate of energy cost increases of a...

Thanks for your reply.... Just to give me a rough idea; If the house is very tight and well insulated, then what percentage of heat loss will be through windows that are U 0.22 verses windows that are 0.33 with 10% glass area? One other question I have is...Does the S.H.G.C change, depending on what...
