Best window material.
You won't have any trouble with most anything Marvin makes and btw Marvin also has a fiberglass window. I'm familiar with Pella but not there fiberglass window but I'm sure it's upscale and as far as Renewal is concerned it's all thumbs down from me. Another window you might want to take a look at i...

New saw for cutting exterior stops
I'm working with the guy that invented the saw tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback but it won't be ready for xmas, because of the product liability issue he has to farm out manufacturing so I'm not sure when it well hit the market., but it's a treat to use. However he won't let me take it home. He's g...

New saw for cutting exterior stops
Last week I got to use a saw invented by a friend of mine to cut off exterior stops. It allows you to get a flush cut on the exterior stops and when the window is in the stops go right back into place. I watched him do a couple of windows and he averaged about 45 seconds per. If your not wrapping it...

In 1995 I sold and installed a large bow window which I thought looked great until the customer came home and said it was to be brown on the exterior not white lead me to painting my first vinyl window. Let me add I did not do this myself but hired a pro who had done it b'4. It cost me $700.00 to co...

Preservation
The Preservation on a scale of one-ten in the window business is a solid 8.They use the block and tackle balance which is the most effortless made today and their triple glaze with super spacer and krypton fill is in the .19 area for u-value. This along with an air test of .09 makes it pretty close ...

You can buy a Shuco for that price(triple glaze that is). What part of the country are you in as I would send you in different directions depending on that.

Pacesetter-gone
Pacesetters out of business, but your problem can be solved quite easily. get in touch with most any window dealer and they can bend you a piece of aluminum to cover that area. probalbly cost you 50-75 bucks. Check and see if you may need any more they probably would'nt charge any more if you did.

Comfortworld/Windowworld
Window World which calls their line of windows comfortworld are usually made by Alside, although I have seen some of their franchises selling other products from around the country. But the key thing to remember when dealing with them is that they pay their installers the lowest scale in the busines...

Heartland and Lindsey both very good.
Very comparable windows. How Heartland started was a tiff between management and sales. Most of Heartlands key people came from Lindsey when they started about 12 yrs ago. Both Co's use the Spectus extrusion in their top of the line windows and the 7000 or 7100 are top of the line windows. You see a...

Renewal
I guess lightning struck twice today. I'm still here. If you've purchased Renewal windows and are happy with them make another post in three years and tell us then if your still happy. I pick on Renewal because they are not much of a value, and a window with a price tag like Renewal's should have a ...

Window World
I rarely get a chance to comment on this board, but anything regarding Window World usually get's me going. Now first I'm assuming everyone means Window World not World of Windows. That being said their a national franchise that I have no respect for. Most of their salespeople don't know the differe...

Don't give up, and yes you have to wheel and deal especially with the shark's in this business. My advice to you is to go with the local contractor who's been around a while with a few conditions. First of all beating Champion and HD by 35% would put you into the reasonably priced contractor's range...

Be carefull and read contract's very carefully as extra's can be added. For the most part they use sub contractor's, not that that is bad but the quality of workmanship varies widely. Window World's pay schedule for their sub's is the lowest in the business, thus your not alway's going to get the be...

Aluminum casements
Your going to love almost anything after living with those. If it's wood on the inside you want, yes by all means get a clad exterior. Of those you mentioned Marvin would be my choice with RBA last. If Eagle is available in your area you'll find it comparable to Marvin but usually a couple of hundre...

Looks like a much better than average window. Rehau being one of the better German extruders gives this window a good foundation and along with Super Spacer and the block and tackle balance system get's it towards the front of the class. If it is actually built by the Amish, more good marks. How abo...
