Re: Lincoln sash replacement tax credit qualified?

Technically yes. But the others only variable really should be the perimeter seal(caulk and or insulation) applied by the installer. That is great for them to qualify.

Re: looking to replace

Ask the person who gave you the 5050 quote to quote 5500. Then ask ofr a comparison between them, from the same person or check out the web site.

Re: Lincoln sash replacement tax credit qualified?

I do not think they will qualify since they cannot be tested in every type of opening they would be applied in, to much field/install variable.

Re: Alside Sheffield and Pella Encompass

Not having seen the details of your install. In my area the average for a top performing vinyl DH supplied and installed with full capping and colonial grids is $508. You can be at $450 with out capping and grids.
Good luck with your project.

Re: Marvin and Pella and RBA, oh my

Why is the extra strenght needed? Does FG conduct cold like glass does? Again, don't you think IG and Balances are the most vulnerable parts? Beyond the life of premium vinyl(30 yrs), how long will someone want the windows to last? I am not installing the same windows I did 30 years ago. There is to...

Re: Marvin and Pella and RBA, oh my

Buddy,
Why do you think FG will outlast vinyl?
It seems to me that the two weakest points are seal failure and balances.
I do not see any difference in these for Fg or vinyl.
What do you think life cycle of vinyl is, FG ?

Re: Our window Project ... Our Saga

Most of the wood companies can not do internalized grids and qualify for the tax credit. Marvin, Pella , Andersen do a room side snap in grid, prefinished on the outward face, bare wood interior face to be finished to match decor. The AW guy may like the RBA bay because of the special sizes, though ...

I think they will be the same.
Soft-lite is lifetime, and the fine print looks pretty much like lifetime.
A full twenty year warranty, both glass and parts, seems like a good minimum.

Re: Marvin and Pella and RBA, oh my

First the 10 @ 19x30 are very small, is this correct. Maybe consider changing to casements. I like both composite or vinyl for your project. A high grade vinyl will give you better thermal performance and longer life cycle. On the composite side I like the Pella Impervia or Marvin. I am not saying t...

Re: White windows with dark stained wood trim and sills?

Barb,
If you consider vinyl, both in Simonton or Soft-lite you xan get white exterior, simulated wood interior.
There are so many options to choose from.
Just have to find the right product and installer.

Re: French Doors Installed Uneven

How are you measuring the 3/8"?
Is the door square and all reveals consistent?
Have you talked to the installer about your concerns?
