wood window

Look at the Eagle window if you can. It is very comparable to the Marvin, and the price is better.

Milgard

Milgard makes an excellent casement window in fiberglass. I do not recommend the single hungs, double hungs, or sliders at this time, but the casements have always been problem free for me. The fixed windows are fine as well. Milgard has a great warranty, and the company is very strong financially. ...

fiberglass windows

Just a quick suggestion;
If you are looking for casement style windows, you should look at the Milgard line of Ultra fiberglass windows. They are extremely good. If you are wanting single hungs, double hungs, or sliders however, Milgard should not be considered, in my opinion. (I am a Milgard dealer)

window bids

I am with Lone Star Windows, in Houston. The prices you quoted are about average for our area, if the installation is in accordance with AAMA standards, and the window is a premium quality brand and line. The thing you have to watch out for here in Houston is the "screw-and-glue" installat...

Eagle windows

You might take a look at Eagle Windows & Doors, which are available in your area. You will be very impressed, and they offer 50 standard color options for the exterior.

Good luck,

Guy

Guy, just to clarify one quick point, I am not an installer, I am the sales manager and co-owner for a window company in Houston. If you will look back on my previous postings, you will see that I have never challenged anyone on matters of installation, service, or other such issues. The only area i...

facts

"Most manufacturer's will sub stuff out when they get real busy." - Guy Boy, some people get really defensive when you call them on their bullxxx! I just couldn't let such an ignorant statement go by when it is obviously untrue. If what you were saying were true, you wouldn't be so defensi...

sub-out production

What companies sub out work when they "get real busy"? I don't know of any. Certainteed doesn't sub out the work when they get busy, here in Texas, they sub out all of their windows.

Which companies, do sub out their overflow work?

Certainteed

The only problem that I have with Certainteed is that they do not manufacture their window, they contract the work out to independent window plants. Here in Texas the windows are made by a company called Burris & Associates, in Dallas, TX. Their quality control could use some help. Simonton has ...

vinyl recommendation

Why don't you see if you can get an Alside window or a Simonton. They both have multiple lines of window (good, better, best), they are both large, stable companies, and they both make a pretty good window for the price.

Good luck!

aluminum windows

There is a company based in Dallas that manufactures a very good aluminum window - Don Young. However, I do not recommend aluminum windows to my customers, and I am in Houston, TX. Aluminum, even thermally broken, are just not efficient enough, and most of the time, they sweat, or condensate on the ...

I know you're new to the site engine32, but don't start putting down vinyl or you'll start a whole new firestorm like the one on Pella windows.

Pella

I was being facetious about the cladding being "not much thicker than a coke can". However, my point was simply this; Pella uses an inferior, roll-formed aluminum cladding on their sashes and door panels. Yes I know that they use extruded aluminum on the frames. As I have said in the past,...
