Re: Clad Wood Windows for new addition in New Orleans

I have been in the industry for 45 years.
Pella has the most failures, lack of quality, lack of long term support. and general arrogance.
The Andersen 400 Woodwright is a good clad wood window, I also like the Marvin Elevate.

Re: replacement casement window options?

You have two hings you need to nail in this project, alright maybe three.
the product, the installer/install, and the company/contractor. A miss, less than 95%, on any one will end up with a deficient project.

Re: replacement casement window options?

How old is the company?
I like the look and design.
It is a 20/10 warranty. 20 years on seal failure Cardinal glass, 10 years on hardware.
What is pricing compared to Infinite?

Re: replacement casement window options?

I doubt you had two companies quoting Marvin Infinite. More than likely Marvin Infinite was one and Essentials was the other. Almost the same window, Infinite dealers almost always are more espensive due to their marketing model.

Re: Replacement window options with similar styling to Pella Architect series?

If you do a full tear out/ full frame replacement I would still suggest the Marvin Essentials as they will have the smallest frame edge to visible glass dimension. But take a look at vinyl, that edge of frame to visible glass will be much different especially on the transoms

You previously post this.

Re: Pocket window solutions?

Yeah that is a wonderful thing about Pella, they do not support their products very long. They discontinued Proline and do not support any longer. But you have Architect series which should still be supported. I wanted you to get pella sash cuz they will fit properly and look good, like they belong....

Re: Okna vs Simonton and interior trim work

I would suggest finding an installer that knows howto remove the moulding, rip it down, reapply, and get as large a frame size as possible.
