Re: Replacing windows- Kansas- any suggestions?

That is not reinforcement. It's piece of sill expander stuck into a chamber in the meeting rail.

Re: Window and siding replacement order

The Starmark sounds like a good option if she is liking the thought of a composite. Infinitely better energy ratings than the renewal. It has a stainable interior option too. No guarantees on price, but I mostly see it cheaper than renewal as well.

Re: Top 5 Questions to ask potential contractors

Some sites are more of a blog style. There is usually one party answering questions, those posts are filtered and approved before going live, etc. Those can be pretty heavily biased. This is an open forum. Anyone can join, comment, and the posts go right up. Can't get much more impartial than that. ...

Re: Pella Reserve

Pella has finally stepped up to the plate and done what needs to be done in the wood clad market... They are offering a lifetime warranty on all clad wood windows. Pella Reserve is full extruded exterior, no roll form. About time, nice job Pella. We will have to wait and see how the other major cla...

Re: Replacing windows- Kansas- any suggestions?

Great thanks for the tips.... Is it safe to assume that the preservation would rank higher than the WW4000? In reading here though it appears I'm really looking for: Okna Sunrise SoftLite Simonton Is it safe to assume I could get any of these for $500 installed? I'm going to have these companies ou...

Re: Consumer Alert! Zen Windows

The BBB has nice people, but can't do anything if a Company cancels mediation at the last minute. If the consumer then proceeds with a lawsuit, it appears that the matter is resolved. Because a complaint has been filed, a review can't be written. I am skeptic of an accurate rating of a Company by t...

Re: Consumer Alert! Zen Windows

HomeSealed, I didn't contact the BBB because I couldn't then have an attorney and I think I will need one. I contacted the Ohio Attorney General last July---one year after not getting results. They informed me a few weeks ago that, Zen's lawyer pointed out, because I rented the house to a friend ( ...

I am replacing windows in two houses. First house got 7 Windows, I brought homedepote, lower, and independent company Allied Siding and Windows. Home Depot was very expensive for Simontons windows so I forgot about them. Lowes gave me estimate of $4150 for Reliabilt 3900 with lifetime warranty for ...

Re: Deciding on replacement windows

Hello, We're looking at whole-home replacement windows, and I've gotten 4 estimates to chose between. I was looking for any advice folks would have on picking between the group. We're in northern Virginia, just outside Washington, DC. 1) Vytex Potomac windows - $15655 2) Simonton Reflection 5500 - ...

Re: Walsh Windows Tundra 6000 Series

HomeSealed - thank you for this additional info and looking at the windows. I want to bring this up to the installer and see what they have to say about these comments. And also to the manufacturer. The thought of the freeze/thaw cycle ran through my heads as the earlier poster mentioned how the we...

I'd recommend saving some more clams if you can't get a good product. You are spending thousands here, and on what is probably your largest investment. Not the place to go cheap.

Re: Disappointed

Did you know that car sales is one of the lowest margin industries that there is? Car salesmen make more on monthly bonuses for quality service surveys than they do on the commission of selling the vehicle because there just isn't much money in it. Why do I say that? Similar industry. Most consumers...
