Yikes! I echo FenEx's remarks, whats the point. You can like I said earlier get some Swiggle and a glass cutter, but why it's worthless. You should have some glass houses near you that would gladly give you a tour and that is the route you should take because to do it right means purchasing equipmen...

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the Jeld Wen zap pack was a replacement sash kit and a whole lot less work than the Woodwright full replacement. The Woodwright is quite comparable to the Renewal, nothing special but rather pricy. The zap pack is also pricy for what you get. The Marvin tilt pac...

I can't give you exact figures but I know to do it properly the needed equipment runs well over $100,000. I'd find a local supplier or glass house and let them be responsible. The cheap route is to buy some Swiggle and a glass cutter, but you won't be doing anyone any favors.

Don't like them but their here to stay. We've contacted the Dept of Consumer Affairs claiming they use bait and switch tactic's since less than 5% of their sales are the $189 window, that's the first step. The new rules regarding contract labor will also change things. The buying power they have can...

WoW is correct in that these are probably the 0971 and 0972 series designed to go with the Sheffield and Ultra max series. If these numbers jive they are a decent window. Your count should actually be seventeen windows as the double casements count as two for typical pricing. Dividing seventeen into...

Does your estimate include exterior cladding? That usually adds between $65-$85 per window. I know Wasco exits but have never seen their window and after visiting their webb site wonder if the entire window is welded as they show some mechanical fastening. They use super spacer a plus and it looks l...

We started with them in 1998 and at the time they were having troubles with various painted exteriors. We added the line for the exterior colors, so out of the gate we were skeptical. Some of our other early problems were how to properly install them. I think they have had hundreds of dealers on and...

I think I've got my mind around this, but caution you to make sure your openings are square. Tilt packs in Wisconsin seem to work well but again only if the openings are square, which in your case you can shim your fillers to make this happen and add the approiate stops. The problem we have with the...

groucho, I can't argue with your points because we've had the same problems. The changes they have made are stronger corner gussets and a complete switch to the Cardinal IG system, a big improvement. They claim the spiral balance is improved..........I claim their full of ............but we'll see. ...

Thanks, Wds83. Perhaps I was being too kind. I'm aware of problems locally similar to those in L.A. but here it's primarily screw ups and lack of follow up but I'll sure keep the info, thanks again.

While HD is a respectable company, you will pay 10% or more for your Simonton product. You will also become a number and not a name to them. IMO you will get better pricing and more personalized service from your local Simonton window dealer of which there are many.

We've installed some of their six and eight foot doors. The product is very heavy a requires an extra hour or two over vinyl patio doors. The units operate very nicely and overall are a very good door. They are now using Cardinal 366 low-e so the door has a good u-value. This time of the year produc...

Many of the windows from WW come from AMI aka Alside. All of their windows use double strength glass but the 4000 series depending on the franchise could be the Geneva, Excalibur, or either the Ultra Max or Sheffield series. None of there sliders have a particularly good air test and sound travels e...

Should be some Milgard people down that way as they have a plant close by. Milgard does have a very nice Douglas Fir interior and cover the jamb which most don't. We have had some cracking issues with the New Construction Marvin windows and I'm not sure why. I'm sure there are different levels of qu...
